Features and Benefits

The Mirage Matte Box is equipped with a new standard 95 mm clamp that can easily be mounted on popular film lenses such as ARRI Ultra Primes and Leica Summicron-C. It is also adaptable for DSLR and mirrorless lenses, making it an invaluable companion for all video creators. Its new circular filter design is both cost-effective and lightweight, weighing only a quarter of a traditional 4x5.65 filter.

The system uses a cartridge filter design that replaces the conventional screw filter system, allowing for quick installation with a single press. It supports a variety of special effect filters, including star patterns, multi-colored streaks, anamorphic flares, and pro mist filters, giving you the opportunity to explore all aspects of your creative vision. The modular design can also be expanded with stackable filter trays to achieve more advanced creative looks.

Another impressive feature is the newly developed Variable ND module (optional), which has been created in close collaboration with leading optical manufacturers. This module handles multiple configurations and weighs as little as 130 g. Using new PL + CPL technology, the VND module can produce accurate colors even at maximum density. The variable ND can be adjusted gradually, allowing for consistent exposure even when lighting conditions change unexpectedly.

The VND module has built-in hard stops between ND 0.3 and ND 2.7 to ensure that there is no X-pattern cross shadow. It can also be controlled wirelessly by a micromotor to adjust the ND level remotely, providing more flexibility during filming. The standard range for the wireless control is 100 m, and it can be further extended with a wireless signal amplifier for aerial photography (optional).

The motor for the VND system can be controlled with the new wireless controller (included in the VND + Motor Kit) as well as with Tilta’s Nucleus Series Wireless Follow Focus system. The controller attaches via NATO Rail and can control both Nucleus M & Nano motors as well as the wireless motor for the Tilta Mirage. With the VND Kit, you can use the included Nucleus Nano Motor Mounting Bracket to secure a Nucleus Nano motor directly on the VND module for wireless adjustment of the density.
