Compact and powerful film camera with RF mount

The new Canon C70 is a compact, flexible film camera and is the first Canon camera with the new RF mount. The mount allows you to use lenses from the RF series that have faster communication between camera and lens, and gives you image quality at all highest levels. The design with a compact size and a simple interface makes the new C70 perfect for content creators, TV productions, documentaries and live events, among other things. Thanks to the size of the camera, you can also easily mount it on a gimbal or drone, and get the freedom to create like never before.

The first film camera from Canon with RF mount

Ever since the EOS R was released on the market, it has been asking for a Canon film camera that uses the same lens mount, and now it's here. With the Canon C70 you can use all RF series lenses and they are constantly being expanded. Together with the EF-ROS R 0.71x adapter, you can also use all EF lenses for the camera with full support for autofocus and electronic communication. By using the adapter a type of wide-angle function of 0.71x, you will get the same section on EF objects as they had put out on a full-frame camera along with more light input.

    4K Super 35 DGO sensor

The C70 has the same sensor that sits in Canon's popular C300 Mark III camera with DGO technology that stands for Dual Gain Output. Simply explained, two images in the camera are combined by the sensor, one that prioritizes highlights and one that prioritizes shadows. These are then merged to give you an image with a higher dynamic range, similar to an HDR or HLG video. The 4K sensor can play at frame rates up to 120 fps and supports both the All-Intra codec together with Long-GOP, as well as H.265 and H.264 in MP4.

Dual SD card slots with support for simultaneous recording in multiple formats

The camera has two slots with support for SD UHS-II where you can choose whether you want a backup of your material or if you want overlapping recording. For the first time in a Cinema EOS camera, you can also play in multiple formats at the same time to each slot - so that you can be as flexible in post-production as possible.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF with iTR AF X (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition)

Canon's Dual Pixel is a very efficient autofocus system found in the C70. Together with the EOS iTR AF X, which comes from the EOS R5, you get a very precise and compliant autofocus through face detection and a deep learning technology that remembers faces automatically. This allows you to let the camera track your subject while focusing on slices or settings.

    Professional inputs and outputs

The camera has three audio inputs via Mini XLR with phantom power and 3.5 mm telephone socket, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone output for monitor listening. To output a video signal, there is a full-size HDMI port. An input for time code via BNC connector is also located on the front of the camera.

Compatible with the EF-EOS R 0.71x adapter for mounting lenses from Canon's EF range

Along with the camera, the EF-EOS R 0.71x adapter is also launched, which uses an optical conversion to get a full-frame section on the Super 35 sensor. The adapter also provides an extra aperture step light input. All digital communication also works between lens and camera via built-in connectors, allowing autofocus, aperture settings, image stabilization, lens corrections and metadata from objects that work seamlessly with the C70.
