Superb video quality

The A7S III introduces two new codecs, XAVC-S-I (All-I) and XAVC-HS (H.265). XAVC-S-I gives you a bit rate of up to 500 Mbit / s in 4K, which gives you very high image quality, both in sharpness and color space. The A7S III has five times the bit rate of its predecessor and is currently the hybrid camera with the highest bit rate on the market - the Panasonic S1H and Fujifilm X-T4 both deliver 400 Mbit / s in 4K. XAVC-HS is a more compressed and space-efficient format that takes advantage of the H.265 codec, which maintains quality but reduces file size. These 4K files land at 200 Mbit / s and are a little kinder to your computer's processor and fit well when you want to deliver fast.

New flexible touch screen

Something that was previously missing in the A7S series is a screen that is fully angled and rotatable, but no longer. The A7S III comes with a fully flexible screen that allows you to film and photograph yourself, as well as both from above and below, while always seeing the display. You can now also more easily navigate the redesigned menus with a fully functional touch. The built-in electronic OLED viewfinder is of very high resolution - a full 9.44 megapixels will give you a very sharp image.

Autofocus

Video filming is very much dependent on a fast and accurate autofocus and the A7S III meets exactly those requirements. With an autofocus of as fast as 0.02 seconds, you can always feel confident that your material comes out sharp and just the way you want it. You also get a significantly improved eye autofocus that helps you find focus during portrait photography or video shooting.

New, faster card type - CFexpress type A

The A7S III also gets double card slots, and for the first time in a mirrorless Sony camera, there is room for CFexpress type A, a new size within CFexpress. Type A is slightly smaller than Type B as we have seen in Nikon cameras and Sony camcorders. As the A7S III uses type A, you will be able to use both CFexpress cards and SD cards in the new camera. To support all video modes in the camera, you need to use the CFexpress card. Type A is limited to 1000 MB / s while Type B can reach speeds of 2000 MB / s. However, these speeds are not relevant in today's cameras, so you can feel safe with type A in the A7S III.

More power and durability

The Z battery, which was introduced with the A7R III and has become standard on Sony's latest system cameras, is now also available for the A7S series - a much-needed update, as battery power is something needed for video recording. Here, the NPA-MQZ1K accessory can come in handy, as you can use the power of four batteries at the same time. When you are not using the camera, it can charge your batteries so that they are ready the next time you go out and film or take pictures.

The camera has a better dust and moisture resistance for the most demanding situations, so that you can take it with you everywhere without having to be afraid that it will be damaged.
