The lens is made in 17 lens elements in 12 groups, of which three XR glasses, two LD glasses counteract color shifts and four aspherical lenses minimize distortion. Tamron's eBand coating effectively reduces reflexes and minimizes scattering noise, resulting in increased contrast and sharpness.

The lens has two microprocessors, one takes care of the autofocus only and contributes to a higher focusing speed and more accurate focusing. The other processor is completely dedicated to image stabilization. Thanks to a metal casing and rubber gaskets against the camera's bayonet, the Tamron 24-70 / 2.8 G2 is sealed against moisture and dust to cope with harsher weather conditions. A fluorescent kit on the front lens facilitates cleaning of dirt and water and makes the lens less sensitive to scratches and fingerprints.

The electromagnetic aperture provides fast and accurate aperture control, which is useful for fast serial shooting, but especially for filming.

Using the Tamron Tap-in Console, you can adjust focus settings on the lens and update it for upcoming camera models
