The most important feature of the 055XPRO3 is its 90 ° center column mechanism that allows the center column to be used vertically as usual, or horizontally to open up a wide range of framing and shooting capabilities; this makes the 055XPRO3 an extremely versatile tripod, suitable for a wide range of photography and video applications. The horizontal center column mechanism is housed in the stand's upper leg bracket for compactness, but it's easy and quick to angle when you need it. Switching between vertical and horizontal column position requires no disassembly, and can also be done with a camera attached.

The legs of the 055XPRO3 stand are also quick to raise and adjust, thanks to the Quick Power locking levers that lock and release each leg section. The special design of the QPL knobs provides the opportunity to open all leg parts in one action. QPL lever design also offers more powerful locking of each section, which means that the stand is more stable and rigid than with traditional leg locks.
