The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC lens is a major achievement in lens design. Now you can obtain the image quality and fast aperture of a prime lens in a standard zoom. It has an amazing f/1.8 maximum aperture, the first ever zoom lens to achieve ths aperture throughout the zoom range – for excellent viewfinder brightness, low light capability and control over depth of field. Also with a rounded diaphragm for pleasing bokeh (softness to defocused areas of an image when stopped down).

APS-C Format

It is a DC series lens for APS-C format aned serves as a standard zoom lens (27-52.5mm equivalent in 35mm format, slightly varies with camera used) As part of Sigma’s newly developed Art range, it places image quality and ease of use above compactness or range of functions.

To achieve this specification, many technologies have been employed by Sigma. Included are features such as a wide glass moulded aspherical lens using the latest production techniques filtered down from the manufacture of super-wide lenses. Another optical feature is the use of SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass for optimised power distribution of the optical elements as well as compensation of various aberrations and curvature of field at the widest angle setting.

HSM-Motor

Focusing is fast and quiet by use of the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) which has full time manual focus override, internal focusing and zooming so there is no change in length of lens when focusing or zooming, ideal for attaching polarisers and other specialist filters.

Flare and ghosting are kept well under control with Super Multi Layer Coating and an included petal hood, and close focusing is possible with a 28mm minimum focus (1:4.3 macro).

The 18-35mm is a well-made lens, using TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) for the lens barrel and a hard surface treated brass bayonet mount.

Compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for firmware upgrades to the lens.
