Weatherproof flagship

A weatherproof standard zoom with a constant largest aperture f / 2.8. Advanced optical design that reduces chromatic aberrations and ensures sharpness at the edges of the lens throughout the focal length range.

Construction

The lens consists of 17 elements in 12 groups, three of which are aspherical lens elements to take control of aberrations and distortion. Three ED glass lens elements reduce lateral chromatic aberration (wide angle) and axial chromatic aberration (telephoto) to provide perfect sharpness at all focal lengths. The lens has a smooth round bokeh created by nine rounded aperture blades.

The lens front lens is treated with HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) as well as with Nano-GI (Gradient Index) coating technology to counteract ghost images and "flares".

Fast and quiet autofocus

By reducing the weight of the front lens and using a "Twin Linear Motor", the autofocus in the lens has been very fast and quiet. Combined with an X-camera body with silent shutter, you can take pictures largely unnoticed in quiet places.

Weather and dust resistant

By sealing the entire lens structure, the lens is both dust and weather resistant down to -10 degrees which makes the lens a perfect companion for, for example, Fujifilm X-T1 which has the same sealing level.

UV filter

To protect the lens front lens, we recommend using a neutral filter as a UV filter. Be sure to buy a filter that matches the quality of the lens.
