Portkeys LEYE 4K HDMI EVF 2.4 inch LCD MONITOR

Overview

PortKeys has unveiled its LEYE, 4K HDMI, 2.4″ Electronic Viewfinder. This looks to be a nice compact, affordable EVF for smaller sized mirrorless hybrids and digital cinema cameras.
The LEYE EVF features a 2.4″, 8-bit, 1440×900 resolution screen that has 300nits of brightness and a contrast ratio of 1100:1. It also has a +8D~-3D adjustable diopter so you can adjust it depending on your eyesight.
The LEYE features a sponge mask to help prevent direct sunlight from burning the LCD screen. There are simple controls on the top and the left-hand side of the LEYE and a power button on the back. Along with menu buttons, there are four function buttons that you can assign features to.

It is a little strange that the power and HDMI inputs are on the right-hand side and not the left-hand side of the EVF. This is something to keep in mind if you were looking at using this with a mirrorless hybrid.

The rear casing of the EVF is made out of metal and it features a Nato rail with three 1/4 20″ threaded holes.
As far as monitoring aids go, the LEYE features 3D LUT, Luma Waveform, Histogram, Peaking, Guides, Tints, Audio Meters, False Color, Zooming, Zebra, Grids, Underscan, Deformation, Battery Voltage Checking, and Color Temperature.

It can accept signals of up to 4K 30p over HDMI.
The LEYE doesn’t feature any in-built battery or even a battery plate. The only way to power it is via the DC 7~24V input or through the 5V USB input. PortKeys does give you a D-Tap to DC input cable so you can power the LEYE. The LEYE only draws 3W of power.

It is firmware upgradable through the USB (Type A) port.
