STF technique

STF technology uses an Apodization element to give you a creamy, soft and calm background blur with a nice transition from sharpness to blur. An APD element resembles a blender, but has a smooth transition. This softens hard edges in the background, without affecting the image sharpening in any way.

Contrast and Phase AF

Sony 100 / 2.8 STF GM OSS supports both contrast and phase-based autofocus. It provides a really fast and reliable auto focus on Sony's reflex cameras, especially models that have both Contrast and Phase autofocus on the sensor.
Image stabilization

The lens has built-in image stabilization that helps you counteract shake sharpness, even on cameras that do not have built-in camera housing.

Macro mode

You can set a Macro mode on the lens, giving you only 0.57m near-grid and a magnification of 0.25x. Thanks to it, you can solve both the portrait photography and the detailed photography without having to change the lens.
