The AtomX CAST is a modular companion to the Atomos NINJA V or NINJA V+ screen recorder that uses AtomX's expansion port on the NINJA V/V+ to turn it into an advanced multi-input switch. The combination of NINJA V and AtomX CAST becomes NINJA CAST, a fully functional solo switch, Multi-View display and broadcast quality recorder that does not require a computer to operate. With a high-quality 5” HDR touchscreen, 4 HDMI inputs and physical buttons, NINJA CAST is the ultimate portable live switch and streaming solution.

Simple switch

The flexible control options mean you can either use the touch screen or the physical buttons to 'switch' between different sources when deciding what should be on the screen when during the broadcast. The illuminated buttons and colored LED lighting for Program and Preview status allow you to operate CAST even in low light.

Connect any video source with full HD

Connect mirrorless cameras or system cameras, camcorders, computers, consoles or pre-recorded content via HDMI. You don't have to worry about the sync, because you can mix and match frame rates up to 60p, and there are interlaced and progressive HD sources automatically.

Integrates seamlessly

With the NINJA V/V+ plugged in, the AtomX CAST can connect to your computer via USB-C and then act as a high-quality webcam. Plug-and-play means it works instantly with all your video applications, such as Zoom, Teams and Skype, without the need to install drivers on your computer first. Connect up to 4 camera inputs to take your presentation or meeting to the next level.

Integrated screen

Having an integrated screen allows you to see incoming signals as well as the program you are sending out, without having another screen. With the NINJA V/V+ connected to the AtomX CAST, you can use its high-quality 5” touch screen for settings and for the monitoring tools for exposure, focus and image analysis to optimize the images. Then switch to Multi-View to see all inputs at once, complete with audio level monitoring.

Sophisticated features like logos, distinctive graphics and lower third titles will make your productions look amazing, and the dedicated controls for these features make them easy to use. Add custom graphics to label your content, with support for transparency, sponsor logos and other on-screen information, and configure the layout with Ninja's touchscreen.

Picture in picture

One of the advantages of using CAST with a multi-camera setup is that you can use the Picture in Picture function to display two inputs simultaneously. Any of the four HDMI inputs can be used for the Picture in Picture effect and there are controls for the size and placement of the image layer. You can show a close-up of a product on your desk and your face while talking about the product.

Configurable and customizable

Because AtomX CAST is so compact and versatile, users can easily work with it alone, or as a team, to enhance their productions. Solo operators can transport the Ninja CAST in a small backpack and then use it discreetly with a compact mirrorless camera for productions of all sizes. For larger setups, the NINJA V/V+ HDMI output can be used as a secondary output that can be set up as a dual program out, preview for the team or talent, or to connect to a larger Multi-View screen.

Ready for an advanced workflow

The AtomX CAST, connected to a NINJA V/V+, is a fully functional standalone switch, but you can also use it with a computer for more advanced video work. In that mode, AtomX CAST and NINJA V/V+ do the heavy lifting and offload your computer, reducing the risk of software crashes using dedicated external video processing. Simply add AtomX CAST as a media source in OBS, X-Split and Vmix to use the software's additional graphics and scene settings while using CAST to switch between video inputs.

Broadcast quality switching and recording

Professional 10 bit / 4:2:2 inputs give you broadcast quality switching, as well as the ability to record in broadcast quality codecs such as Apple ProRes or Avid DNx.
