The Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera combines RED color science with Nikon engineering in a sleek Z-mount body. The camera records up to 6K60 with 15+ stops of dynamic range, features internal 5-axis image stabilization (up to 7.5 stops), 32-bit float audio, dual-base ISO and advanced autofocus. It takes NIKKOR Z lenses as well as a wide range of third-party glass via adapters - perfect for film crews who want cinema camera features in an easy workflow.
The partnership between Nikon and RED brings REDCODE RAW (R3D NE) with REDWideGamutRGB and Log3G10, side-by-side with N-RAW, Apple ProRes RAW HQ/422 HQ and efficient H.264/H.265. Choose file type by mail flow, delivery requirements or storage budget - from the highest quality R3D/N-RAW to smaller proxy files for quick sharing.
Record up to 6K60, 4K120 and 1080p240 for slow motion. R3D NE (12-bit), N-RAW (12-bit), ProRes RAW HQ (12-bit) and ProRes 422 HQ (10-bit) are supported in multiple resolutions and frame rates. For proxy workflows, microSD slot (1080p MP4) is available in addition to primary CFexpress Type B. micro-HDMI provides external viewing/recording when needed.
Built-in, configurable microphones with five directional patterns (front/narrow, front, rear, omni, binaural) and 32-bit float/24-bit 48 kHz recording provide great headroom without clipping. Connect external mic via 3.5 mm line/mic or use the digital accessory shoe (e.g. ME-D10). Headphone jack allows precise monitoring. Proxy audio in AAC for fast delivery.
The AI-powered AF system features up to 9 subject types with tracking of people, animals and vehicles. Combine this with five-axis sensor VR (up to 7.5 stops) for smooth, stable images - whether you're shooting handheld, on a gimbal, car rig or drone.
The 4" tilting touchscreen (DCI-P3, 1000 nits, 3.07 M-dots) is bright and easy to see outdoors. Load up to 10 custom LUTs for live preview. Quick menu for zebra, waveform, grids, touch AF and peaking. Stills/video selector and multiple FN buttons make the camera fast in practice.
Dual-base ISO 800/6400 in Log3G10 and N-Log provides clean images in both daylight and night. Choose shutter angle 5.6-360° for precise motion blur at all framerates. Mobile app connects to Frame.io for sync to post, proxies and remote collaboration while recording.
FX-format body (35.9×23.9 mm sensor) the size of a small mirrorless - approx. 540 g (body) / 630 g with battery/card. Powered by EN-EL15c or via USB-C (AC adapter/power bank). Up to approx. 125 min 6K recording (R3D NE 59.94p) with external power and high temp threshold.

Question: Can I record in REDCODE RAW and N-RAW in the same production?
Answer: Yes. The camera supports R3D NE (REDWideGamutRGB/Log3G10) as well as N-RAW and ProRes RAW HQ, plus ProRes 422 HQ and H.265/H.264 for faster deliveries.
Question: How well does the stabilization work for handheld?
A: The internal 5-axis stabilization provides up to 7.5 steps and works with fixed and zooms, making handheld and gimbal work very smooth.
Question: Support for high frame rate?
Answer: Yes, up to 6K60, 4K120 and 1080p240 (depending on codec/resolution). Perfect for slow motion.
Question: How does 32-bit float audio differ from 24-bit?
A: 32-bit float provides greater dynamic range and reduces the risk of clipping, which is useful when levels vary widely.
Question: Can I upload material directly to the cloud?
Answer: Yes. Through the app, you can connect the camera to Frame.io for real-time proxies and collaboration during recording.
