Sony A7R III -high resolution, fast snapshot shooting and auto focus

A7R III allows you to capture high-resolution images of 42.4 MP with fast frame rate of 10 frames per second. The A7R III is a very versatile camera that can handle multiple photo shootings with its fast auto focus for situations with a lot of motion in the image as well as pixel shift for better image quality at still objects. The camera can also shoot in 4K with full readout from the sensor with support for S-Log3 and Hybrid Log-Gamma.

Differences A7R III and A7R II:

  • Double SD-card slot
  • Pixel Shift
  • AF-On button
  • Multi-select joystick
  • Blix Sync Connection
  • Improved battery capacity
  • New shutter with less vibration
  • 4K film with full sensor readout
  • USB-C connection
  • New LSI processor

High-resolution 42.4 MP sensor

The Sony A7R III has a high-resolution 42.4 MP full-format CMOS sensor with ISO value up to 32,000. The camera can capture 14-bit RAW images with up to 15-stage dynamic range. Because there is no low pass filter that can compromise on resolution, you get really detailed images every time.

Serial shooting at 10 frames per second

The newly developed shutter gives less vibration, which, in combination with the new LSI and Bionz X processors, allows the A7R III to capture 10 frames per second in continuous shooting with full auto focus and exposure. The internal memory allows you to record up to 76 images in sequence in JPEG or compressed RAW, in uncompressed RAW, there is room for 28 images in sequence. 10-frame serial shooting is available in silent mode or with mechanical shutter.

Pixel Shift

o enhance image quality, the A7R III supports pixel shift, which means that the camera takes four pictures in a quick series, and the sensor moves a pixel vertically or laterally between the images. This allows each pixel in the image to be read by a red, green and blue pixel on the sensor. The images are then reconnected in the computer using the Image Edge software.

Better Autofocus

The A7R III has received an enhanced auto focus with 399 phase-detecting auto focus points covering 68% of the image area and 425 focus points with contrast detecting AF. The camera also has an autofocus button and multi-select joystick that allows you to move the focus point.

Five-axis image stabilizer

In order to really benefit from the camera's high resolution, it has been equipped with a five-axis image stabilizer. This is very helpful when shooting action or when you are in motion to make sure you do not take blurred pictures. It's easier to zoom in a subject far away, take close-ups and photograph at night without shaking.

Film in 4K with full  sensor

A7R III lets you shoot in 4K with full readout from the sensor. The camera also supports HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), which allows HDR playback with smooth playback of HDR material on compatible TVs. Support for S-Log2 and S-Log3 is also built-in, which gives you the option of color correction after editing. For slow motion, the A7R III can capture 100 frames per second during FullHD shooting.

Double SD-card slots

The camera has dual slots for SD cards, one of which supports UHS-II memory cards. There are different variations on how the different slots will work, for example, JPEG files can be stored on one of the cards and RAW files on the other card or that still images are stored on one of the cards and movie files on the other card.

USB-C connection

The camera has a USB 3.1 Gen 1 USB-C connector for quick transfer of images as well as capturing images directly to a computer via tethering shooting. The camera can also be charged via the USB connection, which makes it easy to charge the camera from a power bank, for example, unless there is an electrical outlet in the vicinity.

Improved battery capacity

The A7R III uses NP-FX100 batteries which are 2.2 times more powerful compared to the NP-FW50 used in the A7R II. If you need to extend the battery life, the VG-C3EM battery pack is available as an accessory, which accommodates two NP-FX100 batteries.

Conection för Flashsync

The camera is able to trigger external flashes via the flash sync connection.
