Compact camcorder with 1 ”large sensor and XLR connectors for external microphones. The camera has a fast and smooth autofocus with 273-point phase detection. The PXW-Z90 can record at 4K 25 frames per second with Instant HDR and has SDI output.

Differences between PXW-Z90 and HXR-NX80

The PXW-Z90 has SDI output for use in, among other things, multi-camera productions, as well as differences in recording codec.

Autofocus

The camera has a smooth autofocus with 273-point phase detection, which covers about 84% of the image area. The autofocus can be set to follow people's faces or lock it on an object and then follow it.

Slow motion

Slow motion can be recorded at up to 120 frames per second continuously in fullHD XAVC 10bit 4: 2: 2. The Super slow motion feature gives you access to 1000 frames per second.

Handle with XLR connections

There are two XLR connectors on the camera handle, which allow you to connect professional external microphones. The sound level is easily adjusted with the controls on the side of the handle. On the handle is an extra zoom control that allows you to shoot near the ground and still have complete control over the recording. The handle is removable which makes it easier to transport the camera.

Built-in ND filters

Built into the PXW-Z90, there are three different ND filters that are easily activated with the push of a button on the back of the camera. The ND filters limit the light reaching the sensor, which means that you can work with a larger aperture even outdoors under strong light and thus get a short depth of field. The three filters have a value of ND 1/4, ND 1/16, and ND 1/64.

Power supply

The camera consumes approximately 6.9W when recording in XAVC QFHD 2160 / 30p 60Mbps with LCD screen. This allows you to record approximately 140 minutes with the included NP-FV70A battery.
