The Atomos Shinobi 7 combines the large-screen experience of the Shogun 7 with the lightweight, monitor-only design of the original Shinobi. It gives you a bright, portable display that works in the brightest environments thanks to its calibrated peak brightness of 2200Nits. You can monitor HDR directly without requiring a sun hood or converting Log inputs for HDR preview.
The Shinobi 7’s expansive screen offers flexible configuration options for a variety of on-set roles. Use it as a director’s monitor, a focus puller’s tool, a program or preview display for video switchers, or a confidence monitor for vloggers presenting to camera. The lightweight design keeps it easy to position and carry while the large display gives everyone a clear, immediate view of the image.
The Shinobi 7 features an intuitive touchscreen that puts key camera controls within reach. You can quickly adjust iris, white balance, shutter angle and ND while you monitor the image. For supported cameras such as Z Cam E2 series, the optional Atomos USB-C to serial cable enables direct control of menu configurations from the monitor. Additionally, the unit includes USB and RJ45 control ports to support future developments and expandability for touchscreen camera control.
The display shows more than 10 stops of dynamic range in real time from Log, PQ or HLG signals. This capability, combined with Atomos’ HDR monitoring features, simplifies working with Log and HDR material so you can approximate post-production workflows while shooting. The Shinobi 7 also includes Adaptive Cooling, which lets you prioritize either reduced fan noise or maximum display brightness depending on your shooting conditions.
The Shinobi 7 acts as a 3D LUT box in addition to a monitor. You can load up to eight custom 3D LUTs via the SD card slot and switch between them instantly. Apply LUTs for preview or loop out to downstream devices and live feeds to maintain creative intent. When you use selfie mode, the large display becomes a confidence monitor where you can apply a LUT to your camera output to achieve your desired look at capture.
This monitor runs AtomOS 10, which provides a fast, intuitive interface and a broad set of monitoring tools. AtomOS 10 gives you one-touch operations and scopes that help with focus, framing and exposure. You can access common monitoring tools quickly to ensure consistent results on set.
Included monitoring tools:
The new Analysis feature gives you simultaneous visual feedback so you can see what you’re shooting and the key scopes at the same time. View a waveform, histogram and vectorscope together and switch between different waveform, histogram and vector options on the fly with a single touch. This helps you maintain control of exposure and color while remaining focused on composition.
If you need to stream, you can add the optional Atomos Connect 4K to convert the Shinobi 7’s HDMI output into a UVC (USB Video Class) USB signal. This creates a plug-and-play webcam-style output for computers so you can bring cinematic monitoring and professional looks into video conferences and live streams.
The Shinobi 7 uses dual NPF battery slots that allow safe hot-swapping during a shoot, so you can maintain power without interruption. The design optimizes battery usage for extended monitoring, and the dual slots combine to help you run all day. For mains or high-capacity setups, the monitor includes a dedicated locking DC jack input and can be powered via an optional DC to D-TAP cable with V-lock batteries in the field.
The Shinobi 7 supports up to 4Kp60 via HDMI 2.0 inputs and 3G-SDI support up to 2Kp60. It enables bi-directional HDMI ⇄ SDI cross conversion, allowing you to bring HDMI cameras into SDI workflows or convert SDI cameras into HDMI workflows without separate converters. The monitor outputs low-latency video signals suitable for live and production environments.
Atomos ships the Shinobi 7 factory-calibrated for Rec.709. For ongoing accuracy, it also supports user calibration through the free Atomos Calibration software. Using an optional USB-A or USB-C to Serial cable and X-Rite’s i1DisplayPro/i1DisplayPro Plus, you can automate screen calibration to account for drift and ensure reliable monitoring results over time.
