The FEELWORLD FW279 is a compact 7" field monitor that brings high-bright image review and professional monitoring tools to filmmakers, cinematographers and photographers. It combines an 8-bit IPS panel with professional color calibration, a 4K HDMI loop-out, and a range of power and mounting options to suit on-camera and director-monitor workflows.
The FW279 includes a wide set of monitoring functions so you can evaluate exposure, focus and framing on set. It offers histogram, focus assist (peaking), embedded audio level display, false colors, zebra exposure, ratio markers, anamorphic modes and zoom functions. In practice, these tools help you check technical image quality and compose shots consistently across takes.
FEELWORLD equips the FW279 with an 8-bit IPS screen and a 1920x1200 resolution. With 323ppi pixel density, the monitor displays sharper images and clearer text, which helps you read overlays and judge fine detail. The panel undergoes professional color calibration at the factory, using the Rec.709 color standard and ITU guidelines, to reduce natural LCD color drift and keep color reproduction accurate.
The FW279 offers an ultra-bright 2200nit screen designed specifically for use outdoors and in bright environments. Because it delivers significantly higher brightness than conventional field monitors, it reduces reflections and helps you see the image clearly without relying only on a sun hood. This bright display makes the FW279 a practical choice for gimbals, Steadicam rigs and director’s monitors when mobility and visibility matter.
The FW279 features a slim, uncomplicated design that filmmakers and videographers can mount easily on cameras, rigs and carts. It connects via 4K HDMI and provides loop-out to feed additional monitors. The monitor is intended to add professional monitoring capabilities to 4K HDMI cameras and DSLRs without adding unnecessary bulk, and the layout of its controls aims to keep operation fast and straightforward in the field.
The menu system on the FW279 is intuitive and designed for quick access. The top button layout includes two programmable feature buttons that you can assign to frequently used functions, such as image flip for upside-down mounting. The monitor also remembers your settings automatically, so it retains previously configured parameters when you power it on next time.
The FW279 works with 4K HDMI sources and DSLRs. Its HDMI connection supports up to 4Kp30. For audio monitoring, the unit provides a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and a built-in speaker, allowing you to check audio levels and listen to playback without additional accessories.
The FW279 includes 4K HDMI input and loop-out. This lets you display the incoming signal on the FW279 while simultaneously passing it to other monitors, director displays, wireless transmitters or projectors. As a result, you can show the live picture to multiple team members at once while preserving the original video quality.
The monitor supports connection to wireless transmitters for director monitoring, enabling crew members to view the feed without running video cables. You can also route the HDMI output to additional director monitors or projectors for live events, conferences or broadcast situations where larger displays are needed.
The FW279 provides standard 1/4” mounting points on the bottom for direct attachment to cameras, rigs or equipment carts. If you mount the monitor upside down, use the image flip function to maintain correct orientation. The rear of the monitor also includes VESA 75 mounting holes for attaching the unit to sturdier mounts or articulating arms when required.
The FW279 offers flexible power options. It includes a 12V DC input for continuous operation and ships with a standard F970 battery plate so you can run the monitor from Sony-compatible F970 rechargeable batteries. FEELWORLD also offers compatibility with alternative battery plates such as D28S/D54, LP-E6 or U60 to use different battery types as needed.
Important: when turning off the monitor you must press the power button; do not simply remove the power cable. Also, because this is a high-brightness monitor, FEELWORLD recommends using a DC 7–24V output with a power supply greater than 18W (for example, a 12V/2A adapter) to ensure stable operation.

Question: Can I use the FW279 outdoors in bright sunlight?
Answer: Yes. The FW279 has an ultra-high 2200nit brightness panel that reduces reflection issues and helps you see images clearly outdoors, making it suitable for gimbals, Steadicam and director-monitor use outdoors.
Question: Will the monitor work with my 4K camera?
Answer: Yes. The FW279 includes 4K HDMI input and loop-out and supports HDMI signals up to 4Kp30, so you can connect many 4K cameras and DSLRs and pass the signal on to other displays.
Question: How can I power the FW279 on location?
Answer: You can power the monitor via the 12V DC input for continuous operation or use Sony-compatible F970 batteries via the included battery plate. FEELWORLD also supports alternative battery plates (D28S/D54, LP-E6 or U60) if you prefer other battery types. For steady operation, use a power supply that provides DC 7–24V and greater than 18W output (for example, 12V/2A).
Question: Does the FW279 offer professional color calibration?
Answer: Yes. The monitor uses the Rec.709 color standard and factory color calibration to maintain accurate color reproduction and reduce natural LCD color drift. It also follows ITU standards and includes image processing tuned for natural color presentation.
Question: Can multiple people view the monitor at once or send the feed to other displays?
Answer: Yes. The FW279 has a wide viewing angle so multiple people can see the picture on set, and the 4K HDMI loop-out lets you send the live feed to director monitors, wireless transmitters or projectors simultaneously.
Question: What mounting options are available for attaching the monitor?
Answer: The FW279 includes standard bottom 1/4" mount points for camera or rig attachment and VESA 75 mounting holes on the back for sturdier mounts. If you install the monitor upside down, use the image flip function to correct orientation.
