The NiSi Cine Drop-In Filter ND64/Polarizer combines a 6-stop neutral density filter with a polariser designed specifically for NiSi ATHENA lenses. It darkens the image by six stops to let you use slower shutter speeds or wider apertures, while the polariser reduces reflections and glare from non-metallic surfaces.
Use this drop-in filter to capture motion with longer exposures or to obtain shallower depth of field by opening up your aperture. In addition, the polariser improves contrast and can increase the saturation of skies and foliage by filtering light that has become polarized through reflection.
NiSi builds the filter from high-quality optical glass and applies NiSi Optical Nano Coating technology. As a result, the filter aims to preserve full-spectrum neutrality and maintain true-to-life colours and clarity without introducing unwanted colour shifts.
The filter is housed in a lightweight yet robust aluminium frame so it can withstand field use while remaining easy to handle. It fits snugly into the Athena lenses’ drop-in filter slot, making it an integrated option for the lens rather than an external accessory.
For convenience, the NiSi ATHENA Drop-In Filter comes with a carry case. This makes it easier to transport and protects the filter when you move between locations or store it between shoots.
This drop-in filter is compatible with NiSi ATHENA full-frame prime lenses that feature a drop-in filter slot. Ensure your Athena prime has the drop-in slot before purchase to guarantee proper fit and operation.
Question: Which lenses is this drop-in filter compatible with?
Answer: The filter is compatible with NiSi ATHENA full-frame prime lenses that include a drop-in filter slot.
Question: How much light does the ND64 reduce?
Answer: The ND64 darkens the image by six stops, allowing for slower shutter speeds and/or wider apertures.
Question: Will the filter change my colours or add a colour cast?
Answer: The filter uses NiSi Optical Nano Coating technology and full-spectrum neutrality to preserve colour fidelity and clarity, aiming to avoid unwanted colour shifts.
Question: How does the polariser affect reflections and saturation?
Answer: The polariser reduces reflections and glare from non-metallic surfaces and can increase the saturation of skies and foliage by filtering polarized light caused by reflections.
Question: What materials make up the filter and how is it protected for transport?
Answer: The optical element is high-quality optical glass set in a lightweight yet robust aluminium frame, and the filter comes with a carry case for protection and easy transport.
