This NiSi Nano IR GND Hard filter is a 6x6" graduated neutral density designed to darken bright areas of a frame while leaving other areas unaffected. You get a clear, sharp transition between the dense and clear zones, which makes it particularly useful when the separation between light and dark is well defined.
The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear toward the middle, producing a hard-edged line of transition. NiSi’s neutral density design does not affect the coloration of the image. Additionally, the filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and promotes nearly flat attenuation across visible and infrared light to reduce color casts and maintain truer blacks.
NiSi applied one layer of Optical Nano Coating to each surface of this filter to control infrared and visible light. As a result, the filter aims to provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums, which helps to reduce unwanted color shifts and preserve cleaner blacks when capturing scenes with extended exposure times.
Use this hard-edge GND when the boundary between bright and dark areas is clearly defined. For example, it suits situations like a horizon line or the boundary between sea level and sky. Because of its hard transition, it performs best where the bright/dark separation is sharp rather than gradual.

Question: When should I choose the NiSi Nano IR GND Hard instead of a soft-edge filter?
Answer: Choose this hard-edge filter when the separation between bright and dark areas is very defined—examples include a clear horizon or the boundary between sea level and sky—because it provides a sharp transition between the dense and clear areas.
Question: Will this filter change the colors in my image?
Answer: No. NiSi neutral density filters are designed not to affect coloration. Furthermore, each surface has a layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared and visible wavelengths to help maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts.
Question: Is this filter suitable for digital sensors?
Answer: Yes. The filter’s design has been optimized for use with digital sensors and promotes nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light to reduce unwanted color shifts on digital captures.
Question: What comes in the box?
Answer: The package includes the NiSi Nano IR GND Hard 6x6" 0.3 filter and a leatherette pouch for storage and transport.
