This NiSi Cine Nano IR GND Hard 6x6" 1.2 is a hard-edge graduated neutral density filter designed to darken specific areas of an image while leaving the rest of the frame unaffected. You use it when the separation between bright and dark areas is clearly defined, for example at a horizon line or the boundary between sea level and sky. The filter is densest at the edge and transitions sharply to clear toward the center.
NiSi optimized this filter for use with digital sensors. Each surface receives one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating to provide nearly flat attenuation across visible and infrared wavelengths. As a result, the filter aims to reduce infrared-related color casts and to maintain color neutrality, producing cleaner, truer blacks during longer exposures.
The filter is constructed from optical glass to preserve clarity and color fidelity. It includes scratch resistance for everyday handling and comes with a leatherette pouch for storage and transport. The filter measures 4mm in thickness.

Question: When should I use this hard-edge graduated filter?
Answer: Use it when the transition between bright and dark areas is very defined, for example along a horizon or between sea level and sky. The hard-edge design provides a sharp transition suited to straight, well-defined boundaries.
Question: Will this filter change the colors in my image?
Answer: No. NiSi states that its neutral density filters do not affect image coloration. Additionally, the Nano Optical coating attenuates infrared as well as visible light to help maintain color neutrality and reduce infrared-related color casts.
Question: Is this filter suitable for digital sensors?
Answer: Yes. The filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and aims to deliver nearly flat attenuation across visible and infrared wavelengths.
Question: What comes with the filter and how durable is it?
Answer: The filter is made from optical glass, includes scratch resistance, and comes with a leatherette pouch for storage and transport. It is 4mm thick for handling stability.
