The NiSi Nano Soft-Edge Graduated IRND Filter helps you darken specific areas of a frame, such as bright skies, while keeping other regions at a normal, unaffected exposure. The filter is densest at one edge and tapers to clear toward the center, with a soft-edged transition line between the dense and clear areas.
NiSi optimized this filter for use with digital camera sensors. Each surface receives one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating to attenuate infrared light as well as visible wavelengths. As a result, the filter promotes nearly flat attenuation across the visible and infrared spectrums to reduce color casts and preserve truer blacks during longer exposures.
The filter is densest at its edge and gradually becomes clear toward the middle. This graduated density lets you reduce brightness in a specific portion of the frame while maintaining normal exposure elsewhere. Use the soft-edged transition to blend the darker and clearer areas smoothly, which is especially useful when the horizon or subject transitions are not perfectly straight.

Question: How does the NiSi Nano Soft-Edge GND affect image color?
Answer: The filter is designed to be color neutral. Each surface receives a NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared as well as visible wavelengths to minimize color casts and help maintain true blacks.
Question: Can I use this filter with other filters?
Answer: Yes. The neutral density design does not affect image coloration, making it suitable for use alongside other filters.
Question: What types of scenes benefit most from the soft-edge GND?
Answer: Scenes with bright skies or other localized bright areas benefit most, especially when you want to retain detail in the sky while keeping the foreground or other parts of the frame at normal exposure.
Question: What is included for storage and transport?
Answer: The filter comes with a leatherette pouch for safe storage and convenient transport.
