The NiSi Nano IR GND V-Soft filter darkens bright areas of the frame, such as skies, while leaving the rest of the image exposed normally. It provides a soft-edged transition from dense to clear, making it suitable where a gradual attenuation is required. The design targets digital sensors and aims to maintain color neutrality across both visible and infrared wavelengths.
The filter is densest at its edge and tapers to clear toward the middle. In other words, it applies graduated neutral density where needed and preserves unaffected exposure elsewhere. Because the transition edge is soft, the change in exposure appears gradual rather than abrupt, which helps retain natural-looking highlights and midtones in scenes with bright skies.
NiSi applied one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating to each surface of the filter. This coating attenuates infrared light as well as visible wavelengths. As a result, the filter promotes nearly flat attenuation across the visible and infrared spectrums, reduces color casts that can occur with extended exposures, and helps produce cleaner, truer blacks when used.

Use this NiSi Nano Vertical Soft-Edge Graduated IRND when you need targeted darkening of bright areas without altering the rest of the scene. Its soft transition suits situations where a gradual change in exposure is preferable. Additionally, the filter's color neutrality makes it suitable for stacking with other filters when required.
question: What does this filter do?
Answer: It selectively darkens bright parts of the image—commonly skies—while leaving other areas unaffected, using a soft-edged graduated neutral density.
question: Will the filter change my image colors?
Answer: No. The filter is designed not to affect coloration. Each surface receives one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating to attenuate infrared and visible light, helping maintain color neutrality and reduce color casts.
question: Is this filter suitable for digital sensors?
Answer: Yes. The design has been optimized for use with digital sensors and promotes nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared wavelengths to preserve accurate tones.
question: What is included with the filter?
Answer: The filter comes with a leatherette pouch for storage and transport and features scratch-resistant, easy-to-clean optical glass construction.
question: Can I use this filter together with other filters?
Answer: Yes. The filter does not affect image coloration and is described as ideal for use with other filters, allowing you to combine effects when needed.
