The NiSi Cine Filter Nano IRND 4x4" 1.8 darkens the entire image to reduce exposure, so you can shoot with a wider aperture or a slower shutter speed than you normally would. By lowering the amount of light that reaches the sensor, the filter helps you control depth of field and portray motion more effectively in both video and stills.
This Nano IRND filter aims to keep color rendering neutral. NiSi optimized the design for use with digital sensors to promote nearly flat attenuation across visible and infrared wavelengths. As a result, the filter works to suppress unwanted color casts that can appear with longer exposures, helping you retain truer blacks and cleaner color reproduction.
Each surface of the filter receives one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating. This coating attenuates infrared light in addition to visible wavelengths. Consequently, the coating helps maintain color neutrality and reduces the risk of IR-induced color shifts when you increase exposure time or stack other filters.
Use this NiSi Nano IRND when you need to reduce light uniformly across the frame to achieve creative control. For example, slow your shutter speed to convey motion blur or select a wider aperture to isolate subjects with shallower depth of field while maintaining correct exposure. Because the filter is designed for neutrality and digital sensors, it works well in workflows that include additional filtration or color grading.

Question: Will this filter change the color balance of my images?
Answer: The NiSi Nano IRND is intended not to affect the coloration of the image. Its design and the Nano Optical Coating aim to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts, especially during longer exposures.
Question: Is this filter suitable for use with digital cameras and sensors?
Answer: Yes. The filter design has been optimized for use with digital sensors and promotes nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light to work well with digital imaging workflows.
Question: Can I use this filter together with other filters?
Answer: Yes. The NiSi Nano IRND is described as ideal for pairing with other filters because it is intended to be color neutral, allowing you to combine filtration without introducing unwanted color shifts.
Question: What is included in the package?
Answer: The filter comes with a leatherette pouch for storage and transport, and the filter itself is constructed from optical glass with a 4mm thickness and a scratch-resistant surface.
