The NiSi Cine Filter True Color Polarizer 4x5,65" uses an exclusive polarizing film to avoid the yellow color cast that is common with many CPL filters. It reduces reflections and glare from non-metallic surfaces, clears up atmospheric haze, and increases color saturation for skies and foliage.
This polarizer filters and arranges directionally polarized light so that much of the reflected light is absorbed. As a result, you will notice reduced glare and fewer reflections on water, glass, and other non-metallic surfaces. In addition, distant landscapes appear clearer and colors become more vivid.
The filter is a linear polarizer, which means it does not include an extra quarter wave plate found in circular polarizers. Because it lacks that quarter wave plate, linearly polarized light remains linear and can affect in-camera systems.
Consequently, in-camera autofocus and exposure metering can become skewed when you use a linear polarizer. Therefore, this filter is recommended when you are not relying on in-camera exposure metering or autofocus.
NiSi builds this filter by laminating a layer of polarizing film between two pieces of optical glass. After lamination, the glass layers are ground flat to maintain image sharpness. The filter offers scratch resistance and is non-coated.
Use this linear polarizer when you want to reduce reflections and glare manually and when you can control exposure and focus without relying on the camera’s automatic systems. For best polarization effect, position the filter so the scene is at approximately a 90° angle from the sun.

Question: Will this polarizer work with autofocus and in-camera exposure metering?
Answer: Because this is a linear polarizer and does not include a quarter wave plate, it can skew in-camera autofocus and exposure metering. It is recommended for use when you are not relying on in-camera autofocus or automatic exposure metering.
Question: How do I get the strongest polarization effect?
Answer: The strongest effect occurs when you use the filter with the subject at approximately a 90° angle from the sun. At that angle you will see the greatest reduction in reflections and the most vivid skies and foliage.
Question: Does this filter reduce yellow color cast?
Answer: Yes. The filter uses an exclusive polarizing film that prevents the yellow color cast commonly found in many circular polarizers, helping to maintain truer colors.
Question: What is included with the filter and how is it protected?
Answer: The filter includes a leatherette pouch for storage and transport. The glass is laminated around a polarizing film, ground flat to maintain sharpness, and treated for scratch resistance. Additionally, an Edge Seal process reduces temperature fluctuation effects and helps keep out condensation.
