NiSi designed the Yellow Light Blocker to improve night images by reducing unwanted wavelengths from common urban light sources. Between mercury vapor, sodium, and low CRI LED streetlights, many wavelengths of light can pollute the night sky. This glow can prevent your camera from capturing the sky properly and can ruin night and astrophotography shots. The Yellow Light Blocker targets those problem wavelengths to help you get cleaner images at night.
Like other NiSi Cine filters, this Yellow Light Blocker uses high quality, precision annealed optical glass. The surface is finely ground and polished to maintain sharpness for today's ultra high megapixel cameras. As a result, the filter helps preserve fine image detail while performing its light-blocking function.
The filter features NiSi's Nano Coating technology. This multi-layer coating reduces surface reflections, which helps limit ghosting and flare in challenging lighting. In addition, the coating includes a protective layer that makes it easy to wipe off water, dust, and oil without worrying about scratching the glass. Importantly, the Nano Coating process achieves these benefits without causing a color shift or a loss in sharpness.
Use this filter when shooting urban nightscapes, street scenes at night, or astrophotography where stray artificial light interferes with the sky. Because it targets the most common wavelengths that cause light pollution, it helps your camera see the night sky more clearly and reduces the chance of unwanted color casts from street lighting.

Question: What types of light pollution does this filter target?
Answer: The Yellow Light Blocker targets the most common wavelengths produced by sources such as mercury vapor, sodium, and low CRI LED streetlights to reduce their effect on night and astrophotography images.
Question: Is the filter surface protected against water and oil?
Answer: Yes. The filter has a waterproof and oil resistant Nano Coating that makes it easier to wipe off water, dust, and oil without risking scratches to the glass.
Question: Will the coating affect image color or sharpness?
Answer: No. The Nano Coating process is designed to reduce reflections and protect the glass without introducing a color shift or reducing image sharpness.
Question: Which camera systems will benefit from this filter?
Answer: The filter is made from precision annealed optical glass with a finely ground and polished surface, which helps preserve sharpness for today's ultra high megapixel cameras, making it suitable for modern imaging systems used in night and astrophotography.
Question: Which sizes can I choose from?
Answer: The NiSi Cine Filter Yellow Light Blocker is available in 4x5,65" and 6x6" sizes; please check the table above for the listed options.
