The NiSi Athena Cine Lens Set Add-On for G-Mount contains three prime lenses designed for cinematographers and videographers. This kit bundles focal lengths that cover medium wide to telephoto needs, and the lenses share matched mechanical characteristics for easy swapping during production.
The Athena Prime lenses in the wider series cover focal lengths from ultra-wide to portrait ranges, and they use precise T-stop ratings to indicate actual light transmission. Specifically, the series includes lenses with these T-stops: 25/35/40/50 & 85mm at T1.9, 18mm and 135mm at T2.2, and 14mm at T2.4. The matched T-stops ensure consistent exposure behavior across the range when you mix lenses from the Athena series.
Furthermore, the lenses feature ultra-low chromatic aberration and micro-contrast control to preserve finer image details. In addition, the series was designed to minimize focus breathing, so changes in field of view while racking focus remain very small across aperture and focal length settings.
The Athena Prime lenses provide an image circle of 46mm. Therefore, they are suitable for use with full-frame and large-format sensors where that image circle meets your coverage requirements.
The Athena Prime series is offered in several mounts across the full lineup: ARRI PL, Canon RF, Sony E, Panasonic/Leica L and Fuji G. The series features a proprietary rear filtration system with Drop-In filter capability on specific mounts.
Important: use the Drop-In clear filter on RF-, L-, G- and the Drop-In E-mount versions, and use the rear filter on PL-mount lenses, to achieve infinity focus and obtain clear images. Also note that the Sony FX9 camera cannot use the E-mount with Drop-In filters.
NiSi provides weather sealing for the Drop-In filter to maintain reliability in varied shooting conditions.
The Athena Primes are built with consistent handling characteristics. Most lenses in the series share the same weight, which means you do not need to rebalance a gimbal when swapping between Athena lenses. All lenses except the 14mm use a 77mm front filter thread.
Both aperture and focus rings are matched across the range to give a consistent tactile feel. Each lens offers a 300° focus rotation and fluorescent focus scales displayed in both imperial and metric units for precise focus pulls. The focus and iris gears use the standard 0.8 module, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of follow focus and matte box systems.
NiSi offers a 77mm close-up lens (sold separately) that can reduce minimum focus distance and help create macro effects when you need tighter close-ups. The kit itself includes a hardcase sized for up to nine Athena lenses, providing organized storage and transport for a larger set.

question: Does this G-Mount kit include the Drop-In filters with the lenses?
Answer: No. This specific G-Mount Add-On is listed "Without Drop-In Filter," meaning the lenses in this kit do not come with Drop-In filters. The Athena series does offer Drop-In filter options for RF, L and G mounts in general, but this kit’s items are sold without those filters.
question: Will these lenses cover full-frame or large-format sensors?
Answer: Yes. The Athena Primes provide a 46mm image circle, which makes them suitable for full-frame and compatible with many large-format sensor applications where 46mm coverage meets your needs.
question: Are these lenses convenient for use on gimbals and follow focus systems?
Answer: Yes. Most Athena lenses share similar weight so you typically do not need to rebalance a gimbal when swapping lenses. They also have standard 0.8 mod focus and iris gears and matched aperture/focus ring positions for smooth integration with follow focus and matte box systems.
question: Is there anything to note about using E-mount Drop-In filters and specific cameras?
Answer: Yes. Although the E-mount will be available in versions with and without Drop-In filters, the Sony FX9 camera cannot use the E-mount with Drop-In filters. Also, to achieve infinity focus and clear images you must use the Drop-In clear filter on RF-, L-, G- and Drop-In E-mount versions, and the rear filter for PL-mount lenses.
question: How can I achieve closer focus or macro effects with these lenses?
Answer: NiSi offers a 77mm close-up lens (sold separately) that reduces the minimum focus distance on Athena lenses and helps create strong macro or close-up effects when needed.
