This NiSi Athena Prime Master kit delivers an 8-lens PL-mount set covering focal lengths from ultra-wide 14mm to portrait 135mm. The collection gives cinematographers and videographers a cohesive prime lens lineup with consistent handling, matched gearing and optical characteristics designed for professional production workflows.
The Athena Prime series offers a practical focal spread—14mm, 18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 85mm and 135mm—so you can capture everything from super-wide scenes to intimate portraits. The lenses provide specified T-stop ratings per focal length to ensure predictable exposure across the set.
All lenses present an image circle of 46mm, making them suitable for full-frame and large-format sensors. The series is also engineered to reduce focus breathing, so changes in field of view when pulling focus remain minimal for cleaner shots.
The kit contains lenses with the following maximum T-stop values:
The faster T1.9 primes (25/35/40/50/85mm) support shallower depth of field and softer bokeh for subject separation, while the 18mm and 135mm at T2.2 and the 14mm at T2.4 balance wide-angle and long-range optical designs.
NiSi matched aperture and focus rings across the Athena range and fitted standard 0.8 mod focus and iris gears. Each lens features a 300° focus rotation and fluorescent focus scales in both imperial and metric units for accurate focus pulls during production.
All lenses in the series are similar in weight, so you typically do not need to rebalance a gimbal when switching between Athena lenses. With matching ring placement and gearing, the set streamlines lens changes on set.
The Athena Prime lenses include a proprietary rear filtration design. For the PL-mount specifically, the series utilizes a rear filter. The RF-, L- and G-mount versions offer a Drop-In filter option. The E-mount is available in two versions: with and without the Drop-In filter. NiSi provides weather sealing for the Drop-In filter to maintain protection in the field.
Important: use the Drop-In clear filter with RF-, L-, G- and E-mount lenses and the rear filter with PL-mount lenses to obtain infinity focus and clear images.
Beyond the PL-mount kit offered here, the Athena Prime series is available in ARRI PL, Canon RF, Sony E, Panasonic/Leica L and Fuji G mounts as part of the wider product range. The lenses also emphasize ultra-low chromatic aberration and micro-contrast control for finer image detail across the set.
NiSi offers a 77mm close-up lens (sold separately) to reduce minimum focus distance and create macro effects when needed. The kit also includes a hard case sized to hold nine Athena lenses for secure transport and storage.

Question: Are these Athena Primes suitable for full-frame or large-format sensors?
Answer: Yes. The lenses provide a 46mm image circle, which is specified as suitable for use with full-frame and large-format sensors, so they can cover those sensor sizes.
Question: Do I need to change balancing when switching between Athena lenses on a gimbal?
Answer: Generally no. The Athena Prime lenses are similar in weight and designed so you typically do not need to rebalance your gimbal when swapping lenses in the set.
Question: How does the filtration system work for the PL-mount kit?
Answer: The PL-mount Athena lenses use a rear filter. It is important to use the rear filter with PL lenses to achieve infinity focus and clear images. Other mounts in the series use Drop-In filters or offer Drop-In options.
Question: Can I use Drop-In filters on all mounts and cameras?
Answer: RF-, L- and G-mount lenses have a Drop-In filter option and E-mount comes in versions with or without Drop-In. Note that some camera and mount combinations may have limitations; for example, Sony FX9 cannot use the E-mount version with Drop-In filters. Always verify compatibility with your camera model.
Question: Do these lenses support precise focus pulls for narrative work?
Answer: Yes. The lenses feature a 300° focus rotation and fluorescent focus scales in both imperial and metric units, plus standard 0.8 mod focus and iris gears for follow focus compatibility and accurate pulls.
