This NiSi Base Kit 100mm contains two 100x100mm IR Neutral Density filters and a soft pouch. The kit gives you two different light-reduction strengths so you can control exposure and motion blur for landscape and water photography.
Neutral Density (ND) filters uniformly reduce the amount of light entering the lens. As a result, you can use larger apertures and slower shutter speeds to achieve effects such as motion blur while maintaining correct exposure.
For example, the ND8 (3 stop) is commonly used for waterfalls and water flow, where shutter speeds from 0.5 seconds to 2 seconds will create a smooth, flowing look. Meanwhile, the ND64 (6 stop) is generally used during the sunset hour to enable long exposures of 1–2 minutes, which smooths water and clouds for a classic long-exposure effect. Additionally, the 6-stop filter is useful before sunset to capture dynamic water while still retaining some texture.
NiSi IRND filters are made from high-quality optical glass (not resin) and feature a nano coating to preserve image detail. Importantly, these IRND filters include an infrared protection coating layer. This layer prevents the camera’s sensitivity to infrared light from producing an unwanted red color cast when shooting at small apertures, helping to maintain true-to-life color in your images.
The soft filter pouch stores up to four 100x100mm filters or four circular filters up to 95mm. The kit also supplies a cleaning cloth and four replacement foam gaskets for routine maintenance and to keep filters protected during transport.

Question: What filters come in the NiSi Base Kit 100mm?
Answer: The kit includes two 100x100mm IR Neutral Density filters: ND8 (3 stop) and ND64 (6 stop).
Question: Which shutter speeds are recommended for each filter?
Answer: The ND8 (3 stop) is typically used for waterfall shots with shutter speeds from 0.5 to 2 seconds. The ND64 (6 stop) is generally used during sunset hour to create exposures of 1–2 minutes for very smooth water or cloud movement, and it can also be used before sunset to capture dynamic water with some retained texture.
Question: Will these filters change the colors in my photos?
Answer: NiSi IRND filters are designed to maintain true-to-life color. They are made from optical glass with a nano coating and include an infrared protection layer to prevent the unwanted red color cast that can occur from infrared sensitivity at small apertures.
Question: What else is included for storage and maintenance?
Answer: The kit includes a soft filter pouch that holds up to four 100x100mm filters (or four circular filters up to 95mm), a cleaning cloth, and four replacement foam gaskets to help protect and maintain your filters.
