NiSi Filter IRND Extreme Kit 100mm – 4 IRND Filters for True-to-Life Long Exposures

This NiSi IRND Extreme Kit 100mm includes four 100x100mm IR neutral density filters and a NiSi soft filter pouch. The set gives you a range of light reduction options for long-exposure photography while preserving natural colours and image detail.

What's included in the kit

  • ND8 — 3 Stop (100 x 100 mm)
  • ND64 — 6 Stop (100 x 100 mm)
  • ND1000 — 10 Stop (100 x 100 mm)
  • ND32000 — 15 Stop (100 x 100 mm)
  • NiSi soft filter pouch that holds up to four 100 x 100 mm filters or four circular filters up to 95 mm
  • Cleaning cloth
  • Four replacement foam gaskets

How these neutral density (ND) filters help your photography

Neutral density filters uniformly reduce the amount of light entering the lens. By lowering the overall exposure, they let you use larger apertures or much slower shutter speeds. As a result, you can create greater motion blurring for subjects like water or clouds and capture fine image detail with controlled exposure.

ND filters also help when the contrast between highlights and shadows is too high to achieve a quality exposure. They provide more flexibility in-camera so you can retain detail in both bright and dark areas without relying on heavy post-processing.

When to use each filter

  • ND8 (3 Stop): Commonly used for waterfalls and flowing water. It typically produces effective motion blur at shutter speeds from about 0.5 seconds to 2 seconds.
  • ND64 (6 Stop): Often used around sunset hour to create much longer exposures, typically around 1–2 minutes for very smooth water or cloud movement. It also works well to capture dynamic water with some retained texture before full sunset.
  • ND1000 (10 Stop): Suited for daytime shooting outside sunset hour when brighter ambient light requires more light blocking. With appropriate camera settings, it can prolong exposures for up to about 5 minutes during the sunset hour.
  • ND32000 (15 Stop): Designed to achieve very long exposures in bright conditions. This density enables exposures upward of 5 minutes, even in strong sunshine, when you need extreme light reduction.

Optical quality and infrared control

NiSi IRND filters are made from high-quality optical glass (not resin). They include a nano coating that preserves image detail and resists contamination. Because neutral density filtering makes the camera more sensitive to infrared light, shooting at small apertures can introduce unwanted red casts. NiSi addresses this by adding an infrared protection coating layer that reduces infrared transmission and helps restore natural, true-to-life colour in your images.

Pouch and accessories

The kit includes a soft filter pouch sized to hold up to four 100 x 100 mm filters or alternatively four circular filters up to 95 mm. The pouch arrives with a cleaning cloth for routine maintenance and four replacement foam gaskets to maintain a secure fit and protect your filters in the holder.

FAQ

Question: Will these filters change the colour of my images?

Answer: No, NiSi IRND filters are engineered to deliver true-to-life colour. They use high-quality optical glass and include an infrared protection coating to minimise any red cast that can occur when shooting at small apertures.

Question: Can I use the ND32000 for daytime long exposures?

Answer: Yes. The ND32000 15-stop filter is intended for very long exposures in bright conditions. It allows exposures upward of 5 minutes even in strong sunshine, provided you set your camera appropriately.

Question: How many filters does the pouch hold and can it fit circular filters?

Answer: The included soft filter pouch holds up to four 100 x 100 mm square filters. It can also accommodate four circular filters up to 95 mm in diameter, giving you flexible storage options.

Question: Are these filters durable and easy to maintain?

Answer: Yes. The filters are made from optical glass with a nano coating for protection and detail retention. The kit also includes a cleaning cloth and replacement foam gaskets to help you maintain a secure fit and keep the filters clean and protected.
