The NiSi IRND1000 Pro Nano Huc 40.5mm is a neutral density filter designed to reduce incoming light by 10 stops. It helps you use larger apertures or slower shutter speeds to achieve motion blur and capture more image detail in bright conditions. In addition, the filter includes an infrared protection coating to help preserve natural colors.
Attach the filter to your lens to uniformly reduce the amount of light entering the lens. This allows you to control exposure in bright scenes, extend shutter times for motion blur, or open the aperture for shallow depth of field when natural light would otherwise be too strong. The IR coating reduces infrared contamination so colours stay closer to natural tones.
The filter uses high-quality optical glass with a nano coating to protect image detail. The frame is made of brass and measures only 3.5mm in thickness, which makes the filter ultra thin. Because of this slim profile, the filter fits well even on super wide-angle lenses and helps avoid vignetting. The frame has a matt black superfine frosted finish and a top smooth surface.
Use this ND filter when the contrast between highlights and shadows makes it hard to get a balanced exposure. The 10-stop reduction lets you slow the shutter to create motion blur in waterfalls, clouds, or moving subjects, and it lets you open the aperture for shallower depth of field in bright light. The IR protection layer helps bring back natural color by eliminating infrared light that can otherwise alter color balance.

Question: What does ND1000 / ND3.0 mean for exposure?
Answer: ND1000 or ND3.0 indicates a neutral density filter that reduces incoming light by 10 stops. Practically, this lets you slow the shutter or open the aperture substantially while maintaining proper exposure.
Question: Will this filter change the colours in my images?
Answer: The filter is described as neutral density with no color cast. In addition, it includes an IR coating to help eliminate infrared light through the lens, which helps bring back more natural color.
Question: Is the filter suitable for wide-angle lenses?
Answer: Yes. The frame is made of brass and is only 3.5mm thick, making this an ultra thin filter that fits closely and helps avoid vignetting on super wide-angle lenses.
Question: What do the nano and IR coatings do?
Answer: The nano coating preserves image detail on the optical glass surface, while the IR coating reduces infrared light that can cause unwanted color shifts. Together they help maintain image quality and color fidelity.
