The NiSi Nano IR Neutral Density Filter ND1000 (77mm) reduces incoming light by 10 stops, allowing you to use larger apertures or slower shutter speeds. It preserves image detail and helps manage difficult exposures when highlights and shadows contrast too much. In addition, an infrared protection coating reduces IR contamination to help restore more natural color.
First, the ND1000 uniformly reduces the amount of light entering the lens. As a result, you can achieve greater motion blur or use wider apertures in bright conditions without overexposing the image. Second, the neutral density design maintains the image’s coloration, and the added IR coating helps eliminate infrared light that could otherwise shift tones.
The ND1000 uses high quality optical glass with a nano coating. This combination aims to prevent loss of image detail while delivering a 3.0 density (ND3.0) neutral density effect. The filter transmits approximately 0.1% of incoming light, corresponding to a 10-stop reduction. The frame is brass, finished in a matt black superfine frosted style, and the surface features a top smooth finish.
Use the NiSi ND1000 when you need to control exposure in very bright conditions or when you want longer shutter times for visible motion blur. Also use it to open the aperture for a shallower depth of field outdoors. Finally, apply it when a scene’s highlights and shadows have too much contrast to achieve a balanced exposure without stopping down or changing shutter speed drastically.

Question: What does "10 stops" mean for my shooting options?
Answer: A 10-stop reduction lowers the light entering the lens significantly, so you can use much slower shutter speeds or wider apertures in bright conditions. This makes it possible to create motion blur or achieve shallow depth of field outdoors without overexposure.
Question: Will the ND1000 change my colors or introduce a color cast?
Answer: The filter is a neutral density filter and is designed not to affect coloration. Moreover, the added IR coating helps reduce infrared light that can cause color shifts, helping to restore more natural color rendition.
Question: Is this filter suitable for wide-angle lenses without causing vignetting?
Answer: Yes. The brass frame measures 3.5mm in thickness and is ultra thin, which helps the filter sit close to the lens and reduces the risk of vignetting on super wide-angle lenses.
Question: What construction and coatings are used to preserve image quality?
Answer: The ND1000 uses high quality optical glass with a nano coating to help preserve fine detail. It also includes an IR protection coating to reduce infrared light and a top smooth surface finish on the frame.
