NiSi Filter IRND1000 Pro Nano Huc 86mm – 10‑Stop ND with IR and Nano Coatings

This NiSi IRND1000 Pro Nano Huc 86mm neutral density filter gives you a 10‑stop reduction in light while preserving image detail. It uses high quality optical glass and multiple coatings to control infrared and maintain natural color. The filter also features an ultra thin brass frame that fits well on wide‑angle lenses.

Description

The ND1000 (Neutral Density 3.0) reduces light uniformly across the frame, allowing you to use larger apertures or slower shutter speeds. As a result, you can create greater motion blur and reveal more image detail in long exposures. In addition, the filter helps when the contrast between highlights and shadows is too great to obtain a quality exposure.

The glass includes a nano coating to protect detail and a dedicated infrared (IR) protection coating layer that reduces infrared contamination and helps restore natural color. The filter does not affect image coloration, and it transmits 0.1% of incoming light when used at ND3.0.

Key features

  • High quality optical glass with nano coating to preserve image detail.
  • Neutral Density 3.0 delivering a 10‑stop exposure reduction.
  • Transmits 0.1% of light at ND3.0.
  • IR coating to reduce infrared light and minimize color cast.
  • Ultra thin brass frame with a thickness of 3.5mm to help avoid vignetting on wide‑angle lenses.
  • Matt black superfine frosted frame for reduced reflections.
  • Top smooth finish on the surface for consistent handling and appearance.

When to use this filter

Use the NiSi IRND1000 when you need large apertures or slow shutter speeds in bright conditions. For example, choose it to blur moving water, to show motion in clouds, or to isolate subjects with a shallow depth of field while maintaining correct exposure. Furthermore, apply it when high contrast scenes prevent a single correct exposure between highlights and shadows.

How it works

Attaching this neutral density filter uniformly reduces the amount of light entering the lens. Because the filter maintains neutral coloration and includes IR protection, it preserves color fidelity while enabling exposure control. In short, the filter helps you achieve creative long exposures and controlled depth of field without unwanted color shifts or loss of detail.

FAQ

Question: Will this ND filter change the color of my images?
Answer: No, the NiSi IRND1000 is designed as a neutral density filter and does not affect image coloration. In addition, the IR coating helps reduce infrared contamination that can cause color cast, so you should retain natural color rendition.

Question: How strong is the light reduction and what does that mean in practice?
Answer: The filter is ND3.0, providing a 10‑stop reduction and transmitting 0.1% of light. This strong reduction lets you use much slower shutter speeds or wider apertures in bright conditions for creative long exposures or shallow depth‑of‑field effects.

Question: Will the frame cause vignetting on wide‑angle lenses?
Answer: The frame is ultra thin (3.5mm) and made of brass to reduce the risk of vignetting on wide‑angle lenses. However, compatibility also depends on your specific lens and setup.

Question: How does the nano coating affect image quality?
Answer: The nano coating protects the optical glass and helps preserve fine image detail. As a result, you retain sharpness and clarity while benefiting from the ND effect and IR protection.
