This NiSi Medium GND 0.9 filter darkens bright areas of an image while keeping the rest of the scene at a normal exposure. Designed for P1 holders for smartphones and compact cameras, it helps you balance bright skies against foregrounds without affecting overall color balance.
The filter is specially designed for landscape photographers. For example, it works well when buildings, mountains, or other elements protrude into the skyline. Because the transition line is medium-edged, you can retain detail in complex horizons while reducing overexposed skies.
The filter uses high quality optical glass with a nano coating to preserve image detail. In addition, the glass features nano coating on both sides that repels water and oil, which helps keep the surface clean during outdoor shoots.
The top of the filter is darker and it gradually clears toward the bottom. This graduated density prevents overexposure of skies while allowing foregrounds and midgrounds to remain properly exposed. You can reposition the filter in the holder to match the horizon or other compositional elements for optimal results.
Place the filter in the P1 holder and slide it up or down to align the medium transition with your horizon or subject edge. Because the filter can be repositioned, you can recompose the shot without removing the filter. This flexibility is useful for scenes where the skyline is broken by buildings, trees, or mountains.

Question: Can I use this filter with my smartphone or compact camera?
Answer: Yes. The filter is made for the P1 system and fits smartphones and compact cameras that use the P1 holder, allowing you to use graduated density control on those devices.
Question: Will this filter change the color of my image?
Answer: No. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image, and this GND filter is specified to have ultra low color cast and ultra low reflection to maintain accurate colors.
Question: How does the medium-edged transition help with complex horizons?
Answer: The medium-edged transition provides a gradual shift from dark to clear, which is particularly useful when buildings, mountains, or other elements interrupt the skyline. It helps you preserve detail in those elements while reducing sky brightness.
Question: Is the filter easy to maintain outdoors?
Answer: Yes. The nano coating on both sides repels water and oil, which makes it easier to keep the surface clean during outdoor shoots and preserves image quality.
