This NiSi Circular ND1000 is designed specifically for use with the NiSi S5 150mm filter holder system. It screws into a NiSi S5 150mm filter holder adapter ring after the kit’s included Pro Screw-In Circular Polarizer Filter has been removed. When mounted, the filter reduces exposure by 10 stops to enable significantly longer shutter speeds or wider apertures in bright light.
Use the ND1000 during bright daylight, especially outside of golden hour, when ambient light is strong and much more light blocking is needed. During golden hour and with appropriate camera settings, this filter can prolong exposures for up to five minutes to create dramatic long-exposure effects.
Install the ND1000 by screwing it into the NiSi S5 150mm filter holder adapter ring. First remove the kit’s included Pro Screw-In Circular Polarizer Filter; the ND1000 is intended to replace the screw-in polarizer in that adapter. Important: this filter cannot be used in the NiSi S6 filter holder.
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| Exposure reduction | 10 stops |
| Density | 3.0 |
| Compatible filter system | NiSi S5 150mm filter holder (screws into S5 adapter ring) |
| Material | High-quality optical glass (not resin) |
| Coatings | Nano coating; Infrared protection coating; NiSi Pro Nano Coating (waterproof and scratch-resistant) |
| Compatibility note | Cannot be used in NiSi S6 filter holder |
Because the filter features NiSi’s nano and Pro Nano coatings, it resists water and scratches and is easier to clean than untreated glass. Still, handle with care to avoid scratches and keep the surface free from dust and fingerprints for best image quality.
Question: Will this filter change the colors in my photos?
Answer: No. NiSi ND filters are designed not to affect image coloration and aim to deliver true-to-life color while reducing light by 10 stops.
Question: Can I use this filter with the NiSi S6 filter holder?
Answer: No. This ND1000 is designed for the NiSi S5 150mm system and cannot be used in the NiSi S6 filter holder.
Question: How do I install the ND1000 in my S5 system?
Answer: Remove the kit’s included Pro Screw-In Circular Polarizer Filter from the S5 adapter ring, then screw the ND1000 into the adapter ring in its place.
Question: How long can I prolong exposures with this filter?
Answer: In bright daylight the filter provides a 10-stop reduction. During golden hour, with appropriate camera settings, it can prolong exposures for up to five minutes to achieve long-exposure effects.
Question: How does the filter handle infrared light and reflections?
Answer: The filter includes an infrared protection coating to reduce unwanted infrared color casts, and the NiSi Pro Nano Coating helps reduce reflections while offering waterproof and scratch-resistant benefits for easier cleaning.
