NiSi Filter S5 Circular ND32000 (for S5 Holder) – 15-stop exposure reduction for extreme long exposures

Designed for use with the NiSi S5 150mm filter holder system, the NiSi S5 Circular ND32000 delivers a 15-stop exposure reduction when mounted. It screws into a NiSi S5 150mm filter holder adapter ring after the kit’s included Pro Screw-In Circular Polarizer Filter has been removed. This filter is specified as ND32000 and offers a strong neutral density effect for controlled long exposures.

What this filter lets you do

  • Darken the entire image with a 4.5 density to allow much longer exposure times or wider apertures than normally possible.
  • Use a wider aperture to control depth of field even in bright light, or use slower shutter speeds to convey movement in subjects such as water and clouds.
  • Capture extreme long exposure images—commonly around 3–6 minutes in daylight—to produce effects such as cloud movement or cloud softening.
  • Improve exposures in high-contrast scenes where highlights and shadows make a single quality exposure difficult.

Optical qualities and construction

The ND32000 provides a 4.5 density that reduces light evenly across the frame. NiSi ND filters are made from high-quality optical glass (not resin) to preserve image detail. The filter is designed to maintain true-to-life color without introducing noticeable color casts.

Infrared protection and coatings

This NiSi filter includes an infrared protection coating layer to reduce unwanted infrared light that can otherwise introduce a red cast when shooting at small apertures. In addition, NiSi’s proprietary Pro Nano Coating helps to reduce unwanted reflections. That coating also provides a waterproof and scratch-resistant surface, making it easier to clean fingerprints, dust, and water stains from the glass.

Compatibility and mounting

The ND32000 is specifically intended for the NiSi S5 150mm filter holder system. Mount the filter by screwing it into the NiSi S5 150mm filter holder adapter ring after removing the kit’s included Pro Screw-In Circular Polarizer Filter. Important: this filter cannot be used in a NiSi S6 filter holder.

FAQ

Question: Is this filter compatible with the NiSi S5 holder?

Answer: Yes. The NiSi S5 Circular ND32000 is designed for the NiSi S5 150mm filter holder and screws into the S5 adapter ring after the kit’s included Pro Screw-In Circular Polarizer Filter has been removed.

Question: Can I use this filter with the NiSi S6 filterholder?

Answer: No. The ND32000 cannot be used in a NiSi S6 filterholder.

Question: What exposure times can I expect when using this filter?

Answer: This 15-stop ND is widely used for extreme long exposures. In daylight conditions, photographers commonly achieve exposures of around 3–6 minutes to create cloud movement and softening effects.

Question: Will this filter cause a color cast in my images?

Answer: NiSi ND filters are designed not to affect coloration and to provide true-to-life color. The ND32000 also includes an infrared protection coating to eliminate infrared-induced red casts that can occur at small apertures.

Question: How durable and easy to clean is the filter?

Answer: The NiSi Pro Nano Coating reduces reflections and provides a waterproof, scratch-resistant surface that makes it easier to remove fingerprints, dust, and water stains, helping to maintain optical clarity.
