How the filters work together

You can use the ND16 and Black Mist as stand-alone filters or combine them. When you attach the NiSi True Color VND 1–5 stops together with the NiSi Swift system ND16 (4-stop) filter, you achieve a combined variable ND between 5 and 9 stops. You can then add the Black Mist 1/4 in front of that stack, or place the Black Mist directly on the VND 1–5 stop filter. Installation is simple: just push them on.

NiSi True Color VND 1–5 Stops — Features

The NiSi True Color VND is a variable neutral density filter that reduces exposure by 1 to 5 EV. You control the density steplessly by turning the filter. The front filter ring rotates for easy adjustment and can be used with or without the included silver lever. Built-in stops at the end positions let you know "where you are" during action use.

For repeatable control the front ring shows visual numbers for stop values. The ring also has silver side knurlings to provide a secure grip for installation and removal. This makes the filter well-suited for cinema and video work where you can combine aperture adjustments with the filter to fine-tune depth of field while maintaining frame rate.

The filter uses an advanced nano coating that repels water, grease and dirt and makes the filter easier to clean. A thin filter ring reduces the risk of vignetting on wide-angle lenses, and the ring itself is made from high-quality aluminum to keep the filter light and strong.
