This NiSi kit combines a variable ND with a dedicated 4-stop ND and a Black Mist diffusion filter. It gives filmmakers and photographers flexible control over exposure and image character. The Swift System parts attach quickly with the NiSi Swift adapter ring — just push them on, simple as that!
Use the filters alone or combine them to increase flexibility on set. For example:
NiSi provides compatibility guidance for full-frame lenses when using these filters in different combinations. This helps you choose the right setup for wide-angle work:
The NiSi True Color VND 1–5 Stops is a variable neutral density filter that provides an exposure reduction of 1 to 5 EV. You control the density smoothly by turning the filter. The front filter ring rotates to set the degree of density, and it works with or without the included removable silver lever for easier handling.
The filter has built-in stops at the end positions to help you know your setting quickly during action use. In addition, the front ring is visually marked with numbers representing the different stop values for repeatable control. Silver side knurlings on the ring provide a secure grip and make installation and removal easier.
This VND suits both stills and video: combined adjustments of aperture and the filter allow fine control of depth of field while retaining the chosen frame rate. NiSi also uses an advanced nano coating on this filter to repel water, grease, and dirt, making cleaning easier. Finally, the thin filter ring reduces the risk of vignetting on wide-angle lenses, and the aluminum filter ring keeps the unit light yet strong.
The NiSi Filter Swift System ND16 is a 4-stop full-spectrum neutral density filter designed for true color transmittance. It includes a nano coating that is waterproof and antireflective. Additionally, the ND16 features a NEW Multi-Ti Coating, which improves scratch resistance and reduces glare compared to previous coatings.
The Black Mist 1/4 creates a soft, pastel-like quality of light and contains an extra layer of black specks. It produces only a small loss of detail across the image compared to traditional diffusion filters. Like the other Swift System filters, it also uses a nano coating that is waterproof and antireflective.
The Swift adapter ring lets you mount the Swift ND16 and the Swift Black Mist when you are not using the NiSi True Color VND 1–5 stops filter. It works with the push-on Swift System filters for quick attachment and removal.
The kit is available in multiple thread sizes so you can match your lens: 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, 82mm and 95mm. The listed product in this page is the 82mm variant of the NiSi Filter Swift System VND / Black Mist Kit.

Question: Can I stack the filters and still avoid vignetting on wide-angle full-frame lenses?
Answer: Yes. NiSi provides guidance: the True Color VND 1–5 can be used down to 16mm (FF) alone; combined with the ND16 it is recommended down to 18mm; the full three-filter stack (VND + ND16 + Black Mist) is suitable down to 20mm (FF) without vignetting.
Question: How do I control the density on the VND filter during shooting?
Answer: Rotate the front ring to change density. The VND has visual stop markings and numbered values for repeatable settings, and it includes a removable silver lever for easier, more precise adjustments if you prefer.
Question: Is the Black Mist filter suitable for cinematic work without losing too much detail?
Answer: Yes. The Black Mist 1/4 is designed to create a soft, pastel-like quality while maintaining relatively little loss of image detail compared to traditional diffusion filters, making it useful for cinematic looks.
Question: Do the filters have protective coatings?
Answer: Yes. The Swift System filters use an advanced nano coating that repels water, grease, and dirt and is antireflective. The ND16 also features a new Multi-Ti coating for improved scratch resistance and anti-glare performance.
