This NiSi Explorer graduated neutral density filter (GND8 / 0.9) is a 100x150mm soft-transition filter that reduces light by 3 stops. It uses extra durable B270 tempered glass, includes IR coating and NiSi’s Nano coating, and is made for active photographers and outdoor adventures.
Use this soft graduated filter to balance bright skies with darker landscapes. The three-stop reduction in the upper half evens out differences in brightness, increases color saturation and makes clouds more visible. Because the transition is soft, the filter works well when the horizon is interrupted by trees, buildings or mountain ridges.
The NiSi 100mm Explorer filters are compatible with the NiSi 100mm filter system. You can use them on lenses equipped with a filter thread from 49 mm to 95 mm when combined with the appropriate holders and adapters for the 100mm system.
NiSi Explorer filters undergo a tempering and hardening process to make them much less prone to accidental damage; the B270 tempered glass is described as twice as durable as other typical glass filters. However, the hardening does not make the filter unbreakable, and the protective effect may decline over time. The Nano coating helps repel dirt, water and oil, which simplifies cleaning and maintenance.

Question: What does the GND8 / 0.9 rating mean?
Answer: GND8 (0.9) indicates the filter reduces light by three stops, providing a darker upper half to balance bright skies against darker landscapes.
Question: Will this filter change the colors in my images?
Answer: No, the NiSi Explorer filters are designed not to affect the coloration of the image while they increase color saturation through exposure balancing.
Question: Is the filter suitable for scenes with irregular horizons?
Answer: Yes, the soft transition makes this filter appropriate for motifs with trees, buildings, mountains or other elements that break the horizon line.
Question: How durable is the filter and is it unbreakable?
Answer: The filter is made from B270 tempered, hardened glass that is described as twice as durable as typical glass filters, and it has protective coatings. However, it is not unbreakable and the hardening effect can diminish over time.
Question: Which filter system and lens sizes work with this filter?
Answer: These NiSi 100mm Explorer filters are compatible with the NiSi 100mm filter system and can be used on lenses with filter threads from 49 mm to 95 mm when used with the correct holder and adapters.
