This NiSi Square Nano IRGND Hard 75x100mm is a hard-edge graduated neutral density (GND) filter designed for landscape photographers. It provides a clear boundary between the dark and transparent areas, making it ideal when the separation in your scene—such as the horizon between sea and sky—is well defined.
Use this hard GND when the bright and dark areas in your composition have a distinct line. For example, the horizon at sea or a clearly defined skyline works well with a hard-edge transition.
The filter is repositionable in a holder, so you can shift the dark band to recompose and achieve the best balance between sky and foreground.
NiSi made this filter from high quality optical glass (not resin). It carries a nano coating to help preserve fine detail in your images. Because it is a neutral density filter, it does not affect image coloration under normal use.
Additionally, NiSi added an infrared protection coating to reduce unwanted infrared light entering the lens. This helps prevent the reddish cast that can appear when shooting at small apertures and restores natural color rendition.
The Nano IR Hard Graduated Neutral Density filters in 75x100 mm size are available in the following maximum effect steps:

question: When should I choose a hard GND instead of a soft GND?
Answer: Choose this hard GND when your scene has a clearly defined separation between light and dark areas, for example a straight horizon at sea or a distinct skyline. The hard edge keeps the transition precise so you can darken the sky without affecting the foreground.
question: Will this filter change the color of my images?
Answer: No. The filter is a neutral density type and is designed not to affect image coloration. Additionally, the infrared protection coating helps prevent unwanted infrared-induced color casts when shooting at small apertures.
question: Can I adjust the filter position once it’s mounted?
Answer: Yes. The filter can be repositioned in a compatible holder, allowing you to slide the dark area up or down to recomposed the frame and balance sky and foreground precisely.
question: What optical quality can I expect from this filter?
Answer: The filter uses high quality optical glass (not resin) and a nano coating on both sides to preserve detail, reduce reflections, and repel water and oil, supporting high-definition results without vignetting.
