The NiSi Square Nano IRGND Medium 75x100mm is a rectangular graduated neutral density filter designed to darken bright areas of an image, such as skies, while keeping the exposure in other regions unchanged. It targets landscape photographers who need precise control when photographing scenes that include buildings, mountains or other elements that extend into the skyline.
This medium GND filter places a darker area at the top of the glass that transitions gradually to clear at the bottom. You can position it in a holder and slide it to match the horizon or other scene elements, allowing you to recompose without affecting the properly exposed parts of your frame.
The filter is made from environmental optical lens glass (H-K9L), not resin. NiSi applies a nano coating on both sides to protect image detail and to repel water and oil. The filter also includes an infrared (IR) protection coating to reduce unwanted red casts that can appear when shooting at small apertures.
The Nano IR Medium Graduated Neutral Density filter in the 75x100 mm format is available in multiple densities. The product variant here is marked GND4 0.6, and NiSi offers the medium GND design in 2 stop and 3 stop options.

Mount the 75x100mm filter in a compatible NiSi holder and slide it vertically to match the scene horizon. Repositioning the filter in the holder allows you to recompose the photo for the best result. Use the medium-edge transition to handle scenes with buildings, mountains or other elements that break the skyline while keeping foreground exposure unaffected.
Question: Will this filter change the colors in my image?
Answer: The NiSi Nano IRGND is a neutral density filter and is designed not to affect image coloration. The nano coating and IR protection help maintain natural color reproduction.
Question: Why is the IR protection coating important?
Answer: When using neutral density filters, cameras can become vulnerable to infrared light, which may create a red cast when shooting at small apertures. The IR protection coating reduces that infrared transmission and helps restore natural colors.
Question: Can I reposition the filter after mounting?
Answer: Yes. The filter is designed to be placed in a holder and repositioned to match the horizon or specific scene elements. This lets you recompose without changing the exposure balance between sky and foreground.
Question: Why choose glass instead of resin?
Answer: This NiSi filter uses environmental optical lens glass (H-K9L) rather than resin. Glass preserves high-definition detail and works with nano coatings to reduce reflections and color shifts.
