NiSi Square Nano IR Soft GND 100x150mm GND32 (1.5) – Soft graduated neutral density with infrared protection

The NiSi Square Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density (GND) filter 100x150mm GND32 (1.5) reduces bright skies while keeping natural color by adding infrared protection. It features a soft transition from dark to clear, making it suitable when the boundary between light and dark areas is not distinct. You can reposition the filter in a holder to recompose your shot and control the transition precisely.

Soft graduated design for controlled skies

This filter places a darker area at the top that gradually fades to clear at the bottom. As a result, it prevents overexposure of skies without creating a hard line across your image. Photographers use this approach when the transition between light and dark is gentle, for example in mountainous scenes where peaks and valleys create complex light patterns.

High-quality optical glass and nano coatings

The filter is made from high quality optical glass (not resin). NiSi applies nano coatings to maintain image detail and optical performance. In addition, the filter has nano coating on both sides and repels water and oil, which helps keep the surface clean and easier to maintain during outdoor shoots.

Neutral density behavior and color neutrality

Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image. Therefore, you can use this GND to reduce exposure in bright areas while preserving the natural tones across the frame. You can also slide and reposition the filter inside a compatible holder to fine-tune the composition after framing your shot.

Infrared protection to prevent red cast

When using neutral density filters, the camera can become vulnerable to infrared light, which may produce an unwanted red cast in images at small apertures. NiSi added an infrared protection coating layer to this filter to reduce infrared transmission through the lens and help restore natural color balance in your photos.

FAQ

question: Can I reposition this filter after I mount it to adjust the horizon?
Answer: Yes. The filter can be slid and repositioned within a compatible holder, which lets you recompose and fine-tune the placement of the soft transition to match your scene.

question: Will this filter change the colors in my photos?
Answer: No. This is a neutral density filter and it does not affect the coloration of the image. Additionally, the infrared protection coating helps prevent infrared-induced red casts at small apertures.

question: Which shooting situations benefit most from a soft GND?
Answer: Use a soft GND when the separation between bright and dark areas is gradual rather than abrupt. A typical example is shooting in mountainous terrain where light falls unevenly across peaks and valleys.

question: Is the filter durable and easy to keep clean in the field?
Answer: The filter is made from optical glass (not resin) and features nano coatings on both sides that repel water and oil, making it easier to clean and maintain during outdoor use.

question: What sizes and strengths are available?
Answer: The 100x150 mm size is available in several maximum effect steps: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 stops, providing options for different exposure control needs.
