This NiSi Square Nano IRGND Soft 150x170mm filter places a dark area on the top and transitions gradually to clear at the bottom. You can use it to prevent overexposure of skies and to balance scenes where the transition between light and dark is not well defined. For example, it works well for shots in mountainous areas where the horizon is uneven and a hard edge would be inappropriate.
NiSi made this filter from high quality optical glass (not resin). In addition, it features a nano coating that preserves fine detail. The nano coating sits on both sides and repels water and oil, which helps keep the optical surface clean in the field. NiSi has also added an infrared protection coating to reduce unwanted red cast that can occur from infrared light, especially when shooting at small apertures.
As a neutral density filter, it does not affect the coloration of the image in normal use. You can reposition the filter within a compatible holder, which allows you to recompose the photo and fine-tune the placement of the graduated transition for the best result.
The Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density filter in 150x170 mm is available in the following aperture steps (maximum effect):

Question: Will this filter change the colors in my image? Answer: No, as a neutral density filter it does not affect coloration in normal use. Additionally, the infrared protection coating helps prevent red cast caused by infrared light at small apertures, preserving natural colors.
Question: When should I choose the soft graduated version? Answer: Choose the soft GND when the horizon or transition between bright sky and darker foreground is uneven or unclear—common in mountainous areas—because the gradual transition blends more naturally into complex scenes.
Question: Can I reposition the filter for better composition? Answer: Yes. You can reposition the filter in a compatible holder to recompose the shot and align the graduated transition for the best balance between sky and foreground.
Question: How does the nano coating benefit me in the field? Answer: The nano coating on both sides repels water and oil, so the filter stays cleaner longer and maintains high definition and low reflection performance, which is useful in outdoor shooting conditions.
