The NiSi Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density filter 180x210 mm (GND8 0.9) reduces overexposure in bright skies while keeping detail in darker foregrounds. It features a soft transition that is useful when the boundary between light and dark areas is not clearly defined, for example in mountainous scenes.
This soft GND places a darker area at the top and transitions gradually to clear at the bottom. As a result, it prevents sky overexposure and preserves highlights. You can reposition the filter in a holder, which allows you to recompose the frame and place the transition where it best fits the scene.
NiSi made this filter from high quality optical glass (not resin). Furthermore, the glass uses an environmental optical lens material (H-K9L). A nano coating on both sides preserves detail and reduces reflections so that image quality stays high.
Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image. However, cameras can become vulnerable to infrared light when using ND filters, which may cause an unwanted red cast when shooting at small apertures. NiSi added an infrared protection coating layer to this filter to help eliminate infrared light that passes through the lens and to restore natural colour.
Place the filter in a compatible square filter holder and slide it up or down to position the soft transition at the horizon or along irregular transitions such as mountain ridges. Because the filter can be repositioned, you can fine-tune composition without changing camera position.

Question: When should I choose a soft graduated ND like this one?
Answer: Choose a soft GND when the transition between bright and dark areas is gradual or irregular, for example in mountainous landscapes. The soft transition helps prevent abrupt changes in exposure and preserves detail.
Question: Will this filter change the colours in my images?
Answer: Neutral density filters do not affect image coloration. Additionally, this NiSi filter includes an infrared protection coating that helps eliminate IR-induced red casts when shooting at small apertures, helping to maintain natural colours.
Question: Can I move the transition line after mounting the filter?
Answer: Yes. You can reposition this 180x210 mm filter within a compatible holder to place the soft transition where it best suits your composition without moving the camera.
