The Panasonic HC-X20E is a professional 4K camcorder built for handheld mobility and event shooting. It combines a 1.0-type sensor with an integrated lens, delivering reliable optical performance and versatile recording and streaming options for live events, news, concerts and creative productions.
The HC-X20E offers a wide-angle 24.5mm start point through to 490mm at full tele using the native optical 20x zoom. For extended reach, i.ZOOM provides up to 24x zoom while maintaining 4K resolution, and up to 32x zoom in Full HD mode. This range supports tight compositions at distance and comfortable wide shots for events and run-and-gun productions.
This camcorder supports high-bitrate 4K recording. It records 59.94p/50p video at up to 200 Mbps using HEVC (LongGOP/10-bit 4:2:0/MOV). For internal 4:2:2 10-bit recording it can produce LongGOP UHD at 29.97p/25p (150 Mbps) and FHD at 59.94p/50p (100 Mbps) to SD cards. In addition, the HC-X20E outputs 10-bit UHD 59.94p/50p images via HDMI.
For creative motion control, the Super Slow-motion function records 10-bit FHD at 120/100 fps. The camcorder also supports 4K (UHD) VFR between 2 and 60 fps for over-cranked and under-cranked shooting, enabling a broad range of slow- and fast-motion effects.
4K High-Precision AF with Face Detection keeps subjects sharply in focus and helps with exposure control on-site. The system adds color recognition to improve subject tracking when a face moves across the frame.
The 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S.+ combines Optical Image Stabilization with Electronic Image Stabilization to detect and correct handshake across five axes. The Ball O.I.S. System reduces friction in the drive section to improve correction of small-amplitude blur, which helps maintain steady handheld footage.
The camcorder has a high-brightness 3.5-inch LCD monitor with approximately 2,760-k dot resolution. It offers excellent visibility in bright sunlight and includes an electrostatic touch panel for quick menu selection. The camera supports simultaneous LCD and EVF output so the LCD image remains displayed even when the EVF is in use.
The color OLED viewfinder is approximately 2,360K-dot equivalent, is tiltable for convenience, and includes a large eyecup designed to fit either eye comfortably.
Dual SD card slots enable infinite relay recording by swapping cards, and they support simultaneous and background recording for increased reliability. Note: the maximum amount of data that can be recorded over multiple SD cards is 96 GB; recording will not stop even when data size exceeds 96 GB.
The HC-X20E provides 14 User Buttons in total—nine on the body and five on the LCD touch panel. Up to 45 functions can be assigned to these buttons. The O.I.S. and D.ZOOM buttons can also be mapped as User Buttons to suit individual workflows.
The camcorder supports RTSP, RTP, RTMP and RTMPS-compatible HD streaming for direct distribution to platforms such as Facebook and YouTube. It features a built-in Wi‑Fi module that allows wireless operation of the body and, via the HC ROP app on a tablet or smartphone, remote camera settings and lens control.
For stable wired network connections in environments with unreliable Wi‑Fi, the HC-X20E supports a USB-LAN adapter (sold separately) to enable wired LAN live streaming.
The HC-X20E targets event shooters and other professionals who need a handheld camera with an integrated lens. Its combination of a 1.0-type sensor, broad zoom range, professional audio connectivity, flexible recording formats and stable streaming options supports a range of on-location demands from concerts and sports to news and corporate events.
