The Pentax WG-90 is a compact adventure camera built for demanding conditions. It combines a 5x optical zoom (equivalent to 28–140mm in 35mm format) with a rugged, airtight body that handles wet, cold and rough use. The WG-90 retains the compact format of previous Pentax WG models, making it easy to carry on trips and outdoor activities. Its exterior offers a secure grip so you can operate the camera even while wearing gloves in cold weather or when your hands are wet. The airtight construction provides certified durability in several stress conditions.

Imaging performance and stabilization

Inside the WG-90 sits a back-illuminated 16.0 megapixels CMOS image sensor that delivers high-sensitivity, low-noise images. The camera also provides effective image stabilisation to help produce steady photos and videos in low light or underwater environments.

Versatile 5x zoom for varied shooting

The 5x optical zoom covers a wide focal range (28–140mm equivalent), which makes the camera suitable for landscape and underwater scenes, travel shots, and portraits. Thanks to this dynamic zoom range, you can switch between wide-angle and telephoto framing without changing lenses.

Macro photography features

The WG-90 excels at close-up work. It supports a minimum object distance (MOD) of 1 cm for macro shooting. Pentax equips the camera with a six-LED macro light unit to illuminate subjects at very close distances. The macro lights now offer almost twice the maximum illumination intensity compared with the previous model and let you choose between five adjustable brightness levels to match shooting conditions.

Smart underwater modes

The WG-90 includes dedicated Underwater and Underwater Movie shooting modes. These modes compensate for contrast loss caused by light diffusion underwater and enhance reddish hues that fade with depth. As a result, the camera helps you capture clearer, more natural-looking underwater images.

Additionally, the Underwater mode features a Flash Off + Flash On option that captures two consecutive images with a single shutter press: one without flash and one with flash. This gives you immediate alternatives for lighting and color when shooting beneath the surface.

Face detection and user-focused functions

The camera supports face detection for up to 32 faces, helping you keep people in focus in group shots. Combined with the sensor performance and image stabilisation, this feature assists when shooting fast-moving or crowded scenes.
