The Pentax WG-90 BLACK is a compact, rugged camera built for adventures. It delivers clear images in demanding weather and underwater conditions while remaining easy to handle and carry in the same compact format as previous Pentax WG models.
The WG-90 features an airtight body designed for tough use. It is waterproof down to a depth of 14 meters for up to two hours of continuous operation (IPX8 class). The camera is shockproof against drops from 1.6 meters and crushproof against weights up to 100 kgf. Its exterior provides a secure grip, making it easy to hold even when wearing gloves in cold weather or while diving.
The camera offers a 5× optical zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 28–140 mm in 35 mm format. This dynamic zoom range suits landscape, underwater, travel and portrait photography. Inside, a back-illuminated 16.0 megapixel CMOS image sensor produces high-sensitivity, low-noise images. The WG-90 also includes effective image stabilization to help you photograph and film in low light conditions and underwater.
Pentax WG-90 excels in macro photography. It provides a minimum object distance (MOD) of 1 cm and includes a digital microscope function that enables shooting from very close range. A dedicated six-LED macro lights unit supports close-up work and has been upgraded to nearly twice the maximum illumination intensity of its predecessor. You can adjust the illumination intensity in five levels to match the subject and shooting distance. The camera is supplied with a macro stand to support stable close-up shooting.
The WG-90 offers dedicated Underwater and Underwater Movie shooting modes. These modes compensate for contrast loss caused by light diffusion in water and work to enhance the reddish hues that fade with depth. In Underwater mode, the Flash Off + Flash On option lets you capture two images with a single shutter press — one without flash and one with flash — so you can compare natural and flash-illuminated results for the same scene.
The camera supports face detection for up to 32 faces, making it useful for group shots and scenes with multiple subjects. The compact format and rugged exterior make the WG-90 easy to handle across a range of situations, from underwater exploration to winter sports and travel photography.
