The Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G is a professional and compact video recording device for Thunderbolt 4 computers. It can capture video via both 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 in SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD, and DCI 4K at up to 60 frames per second. With broadcast-quality 10-bit resolution, HDR support, embedded multichannel audio, and compatibility with DaVinci Resolve, OBS, Wirecast, vMix, and other popular software, it’s ideal for live streaming, recording, archiving, AI image processing, and professional video production.
The UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G features both a multi-rate 12G-SDI input and an HDMI 2.0 input. This makes it compatible with a wide range of cameras, switchers, video recorders, and other professional video sources.
The device supports Ultra HD 2160p and DCI 4K at up to 60 frames per second. It can also be used with SD, HD, and 2K signals, making it versatile for productions involving various formats and equipment.
The built-in SDI Loop Output allows you to route the incoming SDI signal to a monitor, switcher, router, or other equipment while simultaneously capturing the footage to your computer.
The UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G works with OBS, Wirecast, vMix, and more. It enables the use of professional SDI and HDMI cameras for high-quality live streaming, including Ultra HD where software and computer performance allow.
Support for uncompressed 10-bit video provides better color accuracy, smoother tonal transitions, and higher quality for color correction, keying, and advanced post-production.
The device supports HLG, PQ, and static HDR metadata, as well as the Rec. 601, Rec. 709, and Rec. 2020 color spaces. This makes it suitable for modern SDR and HDR productions.
The SDI input supports up to 16 channels of embedded audio, while the HDMI input can handle up to 8 channels. Audio is recorded at 48 kHz and 24-bit quality.
Video, audio, data, and power are transmitted via a single Thunderbolt 4 cable. The device requires no external power adapter and can be used with compatible Apple Silicon computers as well as Windows and Linux systems.
The UltraStudio Mini Recorder 12G is compatible with formats including ProRes, DNxHR, DNxHD, HEVC, XDCAM, DVCPRO HD, DPX, and uncompressed video. It works with professional software such as DaVinci Resolve and a wide range of streaming and ingest solutions.
