This SmallRig 5599 HawkLock Cage Kit improves handheld shooting and protects your Sony camera while giving you multiple mounting options. It combines a protective cage with HawkLock quick-release handles, a NATO rail, and an HDMI cable clamp to support stable, flexible filming with compatible Sony Alpha cameras.

Designed for handheld stability and fast setup

Both the side and top handles use SmallRig’s patented HawkLock quick release system. This system lets you slide the handles into place and enjoy auto-locking attachment, so you can mount or remove handles quickly without fiddly screws. As a result, you gain faster transitions between handheld and other setups and improved stability when shooting handheld.

The side handle also supports one-touch 360° stepless rotation. You can adjust the handle to flexible shooting angles in a single action, which helps when you need to switch grips or compositions quickly.

Secure mounting and camera protection

The cage uses a two-point locking mechanism that prevents twisting and keeps the camera firmly attached. You do not need to remove the camera’s eyelet triangles to lock the cage securely, so setup stays straightforward and fast.

A hinged door at the battery compartment provides extra grip support for the little finger, helping you hold the camera more comfortably during extended handheld use.

Versatile accessory options

The cage offers multiple mounting points for accessories. You get 1/4"-20 threaded holes, 3/8"-16 ARRI locating holes, and a HawkLock NATO rail for quick accessory attachment. These mounting points let you add monitor mounts, lights, or other gear as needed.

A built-in cold shoe mount accepts devices such as the DJI Mic 2 or small lights. Additionally, a QD (quick-detach) socket at the base allows you to attach a shoulder strap when you prefer hands-free carry.

Quick-release base and compatibility with tripods and gimbals

The bottom quick release plate works with the HawkLock H38 Arca-Swiss quick release mount plate. Together they enable rapid slide-in attachment with an auto-locking mechanism. The integrated Arca-Swiss quick release plate makes it simple to move the camera between handheld, tripod, and gimbal setups.

The kit explicitly supports Arca-type tripods and common DJI gimbals, including DJI RS 2, RSC 2, RS 3, RS 3 Pro, RS 4, and RS 4 Pro, for smoother transitions during production.

Built-in tools and cable security

Small but practical, the base stores a magnetic Allen wrench for quick assembly and disassembly on set. The included HDMI cable clamp secures your HDMI connection and helps maintain stable data transmission while you move.

Compatibility note for HDMI clamps

This cage is compatible with the HDMI cable clamps included in SmallRig cage kits 4538 and 4539. However, it is not compatible with the HDMI cable clamps from SmallRig cage kits 3668B and 3669C. Please check which HDMI clamp you have before attempting to swap clamps between kits.
