Modular NATO rail and top handle

The kit includes a modular NATO rail on top that works with SmallRig’s NATO top handles and monitor mounts. You can also remove this NATO rail to use Sony’s original XLR top handle when required. The NATO rail uses 1/4"-20 threaded holes with 27mm spacing, so keep in mind it is incompatible with accessories that require 18mm spacing.

Multiple mounting options for accessories

The cage provides a variety of mounting points to expand your rig. Use the available 1/4"-20 threaded holes and locating holes to attach small accessories. It also features 3/8"-16 ARRI locating holes for ARRI-compatible accessories. In addition, a built-in cold shoe mount accepts microphones or small lights to increase on-camera functionality.

Base features and quick-release compatibility

The base of the cage includes a QD socket for quick-detach (QD) shoulder straps, enabling faster transitions between handheld and shoulder-mounted work. A magnetic flat wrench is included for easier assembly and adjustments in the field. The integrated Arca-Swiss quick release plate on the bottom ensures compatibility with Arca-type tripods and with DJI gimbals including RS 2, RSC 2, RS 3, RS 3 Pro, RS 4, and RS 4 Pro. This allows seamless switching between handheld, gimbal, and tripod setups.

Cable management and ergonomics

For secure connections, the kit contains an HDMI cable clamp that holds cable connections in place and helps maintain stable data transmission. The ergonomic top handle features a non-slip silicone coating for a comfortable grip during extended handheld shooting.
