The SmallRig 5874 cooling fan reduces overheating in the Nikon ZR camera, helping you record high-resolution video for longer. It combines a high-speed 7,000 RPM fan with TEC (Thermoelectric Cooler) technology to improve heat dissipation and to effectively prevent thermal shutdown during extended shoots.
The unit pairs a 7,000 RPM fan with TEC technology to move heat away from the camera body. As a result, the camera runs cooler under demanding recording conditions. In addition, the fan provides two speed settings—high and low—so you can choose stronger cooling or quieter operation depending on your shooting scenario.
SmallRig designed a tool-free snap-on mount so you can install or remove the cooler in seconds. This quick mounting system keeps operation effortless and maintains access to the camera’s LCD screen while the cooler is attached. However, note that the camera’s LCD screen cannot be retracted when the fan is mounted; remove the cooler before retracting the screen.
The included mounting bracket provides native compatibility with the Nikon ZR. For additional flexibility, you can remove the bracket and adapt the cooler for a range of Sony mirrorless cameras without extra accessories. This makes the unit useful both for Nikon ZR users and for Sony shooters who need extra cooling when the bracket is removed.
This cooling fan does not contain a built-in battery and requires an external power source to operate. For extended power and continuous cooling during long shoots, the unit works with SmallRig V-Mount battery mount plate kits and V-Mount batteries. Use of an appropriate external power source lets you maintain cooling for longer recording sessions.

Question: Will this unit prevent my Nikon ZR from overheating during long recordings?
Answer: The SmallRig 5874 uses a 7,000 RPM fan combined with TEC technology to improve heat dissipation and to effectively prevent thermal shutdown, which helps during extended recording sessions.
Question: Can I use this cooling fan on Sony cameras?
Answer: Yes. Remove the included mounting bracket to adapt the cooler for a range of Sony mirrorless cameras listed above, eliminating the need for additional accessories for those models.
Question: How is the cooler powered and can I run it for long shoots?
Answer: The unit has no built-in battery and requires an external power source. For extended or continuous cooling, connect it to SmallRig V-Mount battery mount plate kits and V-Mount batteries as noted.
Question: Will the cooler block the camera's LCD screen?
Answer: The snap-on mount maintains access to the LCD for normal use. However, you cannot retract the LCD while the fan is installed; remove the cooler before retracting the screen to avoid damage.
Question: Can I leave the fan running when the camera is off?
Answer: No. Avoid using the cooling fan when the camera is inactive to prevent internal condensation. Turn off and disconnect the unit when not actively recording.
