The Tokina Vista-C 135mm T1.5 in Canon EF mount brings the optical and mechanical design of the Vista-C cinema prime series to telephoto work. It combines a vintage-inspired rendering with modern cine mechanics. This version fits Canon EF systems while sharing the same optical tuning and build approach used across the Vista-C family.
Vista-C primes were developed with input from working DPs and rental houses. Optically, the 135mm follows the series’ refined vintage aesthetic. It produces softer edges, gentle field distortion and natural falloff. Contrast is slightly lowered compared to more clinical lenses, which helps preserve highlight detail and a classic look.
The lens also renders expressive blue and red flare tones. Tokina redesigned the coatings to reduce green cast and give an overall warmer rendering. Combined with smooth, pleasing bokeh, this makes the 135mm well suited to portraiture and evocative long-range shots where a filmic, organic feel is desired.
Vista-C lenses cover full-frame and large-format sensors. The series provides an image circle exceeding 46.7 mm, enabling use on “full-frame plus” cameras and even ARRI ALEXA 65 Open Gate. Across the series, lenses maintain high central resolution suitable for modern large-format digital cinema cameras, and the 135mm preserves that central sharpness for critical image areas.
Additionally, the Vista-C design delivers near-zero focus breathing. As a result, focus pulls remain smooth and free from distracting changes in angle of view—an important attribute for professional cinema work with shallow depth of field.
Mechanically, the Vista-C series uses a robust, all-metal housing and consistent form factor across focal lengths. The lenses feature 0.8 MOD cine gears and approximately 300° of focus rotation for precise manual control and fine-tuned pulls.
Vista-C primes share a 114 mm front outside diameter and consistent gear positions. This standardization makes lens swaps fast and predictable when using matte boxes, follow focus units or FIZ systems. A 9-blade curved iris helps maintain smooth, rounded out-of-focus highlights as you stop down.
The 135mm T1.5 Vista-C is ideal for narrative features, series work, commercials and music videos where an expressive, filmic look is required. Use it for tight portraits, subject isolation and long-range shots on large-format sensors while keeping production efficiency with predictable mechanics and consistent lens ergonomics.
