Tokina Vista-C cinema primes deliver a distinct, characterful image while keeping modern reliability. They were developed after extensive consultation with working DPs and rental houses. Compared to the earlier Vista, Vista One and Vista-P lines, Vista-C uses completely new optics and coatings to produce a clearly different look while maintaining professional cine mechanics.
Vista-C primes are optically tuned for a refined vintage aesthetic. They produce gentle field distortion, natural falloff, softer edges and smooth, pleasing bokeh. Contrast is slightly lowered and the lenses generate expressive blue and red flare tones. In addition, the new coatings provide a warmer overall rendering and reduce green cast compared to earlier Vista designs. Despite this classic character, the lenses maintain high central resolution suitable for modern large-format digital cinema cameras.
The series shares a fast T1.5 maximum aperture with a T22 minimum across the range. This fast aperture allows for shallow depth-of-field work. At the same time, the lenses exhibit virtually no focus breathing, enabling smooth focus pulls without distracting changes in angle of view.
Vista-C primes cover full-frame and large-format sensors with an image circle exceeding 46.7 mm. In practice, this supports “full-frame plus” cameras and even ARRI ALEXA 65 Open Gate. The series supports sensors up to 65 mm, making it suitable for production on larger digital cinema cameras.
Mechanically, Vista-C lenses use a robust, all-metal housing and are available in several different mounts. The lenses employ 0.8 MOD cine gears and offer approximately 300° of focus rotation for precise manual control. Each lens shares the same exterior form factor, including a 114 mm front outside diameter and consistent gear positions, which makes lens swaps fast and predictable when using matte boxes and FIZ systems. A 9-blade curved iris helps maintain smooth, rounded out-of-focus highlights as you stop down.
The Vista-C primes are offered as a cohesive set, with focal lengths from 18 mm up to 135 mm. This range covers wide establishing shots through to tighter portraits when shooting on large-format sensors. As a result, the lenses suit narrative features, television series, commercials and music videos where a more expressive, filmic look is desired while maintaining production efficiency and large-format coverage.
